You are probably reading this post for 1 of 2 reasons:

You feel you have been judged by someone and want to get some scripture against judging people.

You have judged someone and want to justify your actions.

So were you wrongly judged by another? Did you judge someone fairly? These questions and more will be answered in this post. First things first. The scripture you were looking for, or the scripture that was used against you for judging someone.

Matthew 7:1-6:

1. Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. 2. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.

3. And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? 4. How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? 5. Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

6. Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.

Let us dig through this scripture and examine other scriptures to see the Truth.

First, for those who belong to Christ their is no longer judgement for our sins.

John 3:18:

18. There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.

This verse clearly states that we are no longer in danger of eternal judgment from God if we have our faith placed in Christ. Christ himself says many times in scripture that he did not come to judge the world but to save it.

So is this the full story? Do we not have the responsibility to judge right from wrong? Let me pose the question like this: Do we have the responsibility to put murderers, rapists, thieves, in jail to protect our society? Can their be no law and order? Is every man/woman now free to follow the desires of their own heart? How about the Christian, are we now free to commit any sin we desire free from the consequences?

Lets look at what Paul says in 1 Corinthians.

1 Corinthians 10:23-24:

23. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”[a]—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”[a]—but not everything is beneficial. 24. Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others.

a. all Things are lawful

In this scripture Paul makes it very clear that though we no longer live under the law (we live in Grace) our actions still have an affect on others. As Christians we should be more concerned how our lives affect others than we are with our own desires.

How many who do not know Christ will turn from him because of your actions? How will you actions affect your relationship with God or your attitude toward God? How will your actions affect your Christian brothers and sisters? Though we no longer live under the law our actions still have consequences which are eternal.

I hope at this point you are reflecting on your own life and your own actions. This is the point of Matthew 7:1-6. We often overlook our own shortcomings and point out those of others when what we should be doing is focusing on our own faults and allowing Christ to help us overcome.

So is it wrong to judge? Yes and No. It is wrong to judge others as inferior, less godly, less spiritual, ect. But it is not however wrong to discern (a form or judging) when a brother or sister in Christ is struggling in sin so that we can help them overcome such sin. Lets have a look at scripture that supports this idea.

Galatians 6:1:

1. Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.

We are never to judge critically or with arrogant spirit because this is unrighteous judgment and scripture condemns this type of judgment. We are however responsible for one anothers spiritual lives, we are after all one body with Christ as the head. Let us therefore examine our own lives so that we may better serve God and be better equipt to help our brethren when they fall into and are overcome by sin.

Endless Prayer:

Lord let us not think so highly or ourselves. Let our spirit be humble and let us be critical of our own lives and of our own relationship with you. I ask that you help us to remove the beams from our eyes, not that we would cast bitter judgment, so we help one another remain faithful to your calling. Refine us, mold us, break us, reform us into the image of Christ. Let our lives be lived so that others may call you faithful. Open our eyes to the pain in this world so that we can be used by you as instruments of change.

The selection of New Hampshire Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson for Sunday’s event follows weeks of criticism from gay-rights groups over Obama’s decision to have the Rev. Rick Warren give the invocation at his Jan. 20 inauguration.

Warren backed the ban on same-sex marriage that passed in his home state of California on the November ballot.

Robinson said last month the choice of Warren was like a slap in the face. In an interview with the Concord Monitor, he said he doesn’t believe Obama invited him in response to the Warren criticism but said his inclusion won’t go unnoticed by the gay and lesbian community.

“It’s important for any minority to see themselves represented in some way,” Robinson told the newspaper for a story in Monday’s editions. “Whether it be a racial minority, an ethnic minority, or in our case, a sexual minority. Just seeing someone like you up front matters.”

Clark Stevens, a spokesman for the inaugural committee, said Robinson was invited because he had offered his advice to Obama during the campaign and because of his church work. When asked whether Robinson was included to calm the Warren complaints, he said Robinson is “an important figure in the religious community. We are excited that he will be involved.”

Robinson, 61, said both Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden will attend the event, and Obama is expected to speak. As for himself, Robinson said he doesn’t yet know what he’ll say, but he knows he won’t use a Bible.

“While that is a holy and sacred text to me, it is not for many Americans,” Robinson said. “I will be careful not to be especially Christian in my prayer. This is a prayer for the whole nation.”

Robinson said his prayer will be reflective of the times.

“I think these are sober and difficult times that we are facing,” he said. “It won’t be a happy, clappy prayer.”

Robinson’s 2003 consecration has divided the church in the United States and abroad. Last month, theological conservatives upset by liberal views of U.S. Episcopalians and Canadian Anglicans formed a rival North American province.

Endless Prayer:

Lord, forgive us for our faults. In the areas of our lives where we struggle with sin give us the strength to overcome. Let us flee from sin and run to you; the savior of our souls. Hide us in the shadow of your grace and quicken our spirits to live just lives. Let us never stray from the truth of your word and let us find our joy in the truth of your scripture. Give us your eyes to see things as you see them and guide our hearts to serve you without hesitation. Lead us from the ways of Sodom & Gomorrah and let us not look back upon our wickedness. May we fix our eyes on you, may our lives be consumed by you. Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna…

The pottery shard contains 5 lines of Hebrew text and Yosef Garfinkel of the Hebrew University’s Institute of Archaeology says that this could be the most important archaeological discovery in Israel since the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Yosef and his team believe the text may provide evidence for a real-life King David. It may surprise many Christians but outside the ancient scriptures of the Bible, which I believe to have historical as well as spiritual importance, there is little archaeological evidence for the Kingdom of David.

The 3,000 year old shard was found during excavations of the Elah Fortress, the oldest known biblical age fortress. The Elah Fortress dates back to the 10th century B.C.

Carbon dating of olive pits found at the site, as well as analysis of the pottery remains, also place the Hebrew text between 1000 B.C. and 975 B.C., the time King David would have lived.

The exact nature of the text which is believed to be Hebrew written in Proto-Canaanite script has yet to be determined, but a number of root words have already been translated, including “judge,” “slave,” and “king.”

In September 2008, 20 members of the Scottish Parliament proposed a motion which charges Playboy with manipulative, dangerous and exploitative practices to target sexualized merchandise at children.

Playboy was drawn into the controversy in May by a protest from Tim Jones, who pulled down a display of pencil cases and notebooks bearing the Playboy bunny logo at a local stationary store.

“I told the assistant manager who was on duty at the time that I was going to be launching a protest at the shop, and I went over to where the Playboy material was on the shelf alongside the Winnie The Pooh and Mickey Mouse material, and I started tossing it on the floor away from where people were,” Jones, 40, told the York Press at the time.

The minister also asked store patrons to sign a petition protesting “the intrusion of commercial brands such as Playboy into goods and services targeting children.”

“The long-term intention of this strategy is to encourage children to see the Playboy bunny as a friendly child-appropriate brand, preparing them for early commercial acceptance of Playboy pornographic merchandise, and constitutes a kind of ‘institutional grooming’ of children for their commercial exploitation by the powerful sex industry. This institutional grooming may be indirect but it is not accidental. It is deliberate, intentional, cynical and wicked, and must be resisted,” Jones said.

Endless Prayer:

Lord, what has our world come to? Where have we gone wrong? When did we stray so far from your ways? And how can we come back to you and the principles which you hold fast to? Protect our children, protect our youth, protect us all from the constant bombardment of those things which you despise. Guard our eyes, fill our hearts with your word, fill our minds with thoughts of you. Cleanse us from our unrighteousness. Turn us from our wickedness. That we might seek you all the days of our life and that our children might follow after us with hearts that desire you alone. This Lord is my prayer, this is my request.

Because of the lack of archaeological evidence King Solomon’s existance 3,000 years ago has been in question among some scholars.

This time period has been one of the most hotly debated areas of biblical archaeology. This find presents hard evidence that there was an advanced society in this area earlier than pervious archaeological evidence had suggested.

Romans 1:18-20:

18. But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

I find it very comforting to know that as human knowledge increases and we learn more and more about nature and about our history that the Bible is proven to be more and more accurate than many would believe. I strongly believe that the more we learn the more it will point us to the undeniable fact that God does exist and he has made himself known through his creation and through his son Jesus.

Endless Prayer:

Lord I thank you for your Word and for revealing yourself to me through your beautiful creation. Your ways are so much higher than our ways. Your thoughts are higher than our own. I ask that you would continue to reveal yourself to me that I might better serve you. For my readers I ask that you would also reveale yourself to them that they might give you the glory that you rightly deserve. Protect us from our own prideful self-righteousness and deliver us from temptation.

Have you ever wondered why so many people have such a dim view of the church? Or have you wondered why the most common reason for someone not going to church is because it is full hypocrites? During a recent study with some of my close friends the spirit lead us to the following scripture.

John 13:34-35:

34. So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.

If only we would make this our highest goal.

1 Corinthians 14:1:

1. Let love be your highest goal!…

I would like to challenge you today to make it a priority in your life to love one another as Christ loves us. Be willing and able to set your own desires aside for the needs of others. Scripture plainly tells us that our sacrifificial love for one another will be proof to the world that we are true followers of Christ.

And remember that as a Christian your life is a sermon being preached to the world, so be mindful of the fruit that you bear.

“It is easier to preach ten sermons than it is to live just one.”

How important does a single word in scripture hold? If you are reading the 10 commandments then a single word means a LOT! If you have never heard of the 1631 edition of the KJV then you may find it interesting that around 1,000 of these bibles were printed for King Charles I. Read on to see how bad this typo was.

First lets have a look at the standard reading of Exodus 20:14.

Exodus 20:14:

Thou shall not commit adultery

and how about the reading from the 1631 edition.

Exodus 20:14 (1631 edition typo):

Thou shall commit adultery

How shocking would that be? Now you understand how this rare find has been called the Wicked Bible.

On November the 4th the United States elected its new president and California was split 52.3% to 47.7% on the subject of gay mairrage. California has been one of the few states to legalize same sex marriage and Proposition 8 was formed as a way to overturn this rulling. By passing Proposition 8 California’s population has stated that it (at least as majority) disaproves of same sex mairrage.

Romans 1:18-32:

21. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. 22. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.

24. So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. 25. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. 26. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

28. Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32. They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

For the Christian the above scripture is plain in depicting how God feels about same sex mairrage. Scriptures reffers to the act as giving into “shameful desires”. This scripture stands as a warning, not only to those who are partaking in the sinful act but to those who are exposed to the wickedness because the deviants will encourage others to join in the rebellion from God.

Let me first say that I am not a “homophone” or a “gay basher”. I will admit that I am a bit of a “Bible Thumper” but I do not believe in forcing my view on anyone when it comes to accepting Christ. I do however believe in speaking out against sin because if sin is allowed to flourish death and destruction is soon to follow.

I applaud those in California (a very liberal state, IMHO) who stood up against this atrosity of same sex mairrage. This gives me hope that all is not lost, their are still enough of us with moral standing to fight back at the moral decline of our nation.

And for those of you who read this and disagree with my point of view, I respect your thoughts but I will not waiver at what I consider to be sinful rebellion against God. And I am glad to see the passing of Proposition 8.

Endless Prayer:

Lord you are soverign, your glory is made manifest in your creation. May we all see your glory and praise your name for who you are. May we accept your will for our lives and seek to bring you glory through our lives. Keep us from temptation and deliver us from our own sinful nature. I pray for those who are consumed by their own sinful and shameful desires that you would make yourself manifest in their lives. Turn our hearts of stone into hearts of flesh. In Christ’s name, Amen.

I request that you all pray for our new President.

1 Timothy 2:1-2:

1. I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God’s mercy upon them, and give thanks. 2. Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity.

Scripture tells us that we are to keep those who are in positions of authority in our prayers. As the scripture tells us this will allow us all to live in peace and quiet. Through our prayers we will also be able to live in godliness and in dignity.

Christians we gain nothing when we have a negative attitude. Though I strongly disagree with many of the positions that our current president holds I feel that scripture commands us to respect their authority because it is given by God and also diligently pray for them to make the right choices.

Endless Prayer:

Lord you are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, noone can deny your authority and noone can over come your strength. Your Will will be and your ways are so much higher than our own. I pray that you would guide our new president and lead him in your way. May our country be drawn to you and may your kingdom be establised on earth as it is in heaven. Thank you for your son Jesus and the price he paid for us on the cross.

Unless you have been living under a rock you know that the US economy has been taking a thrashing over the last few months. Many people have lost a lot of money and many are asking if it is going to get worse. First lets look at the root cause of our current crisis: Greed.

Luke 12:15-21:

15. Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

16. Then he told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. 17. He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ 18. Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. 19. And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’

20. “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’

21. “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”

There has been a lot of analysis on the current crisis and many experts agree that the source of the problem is homeowners inability to pay their mortgages. For years banks have been giving loans to home buyers who did not have the funds to own a home. Many of these loans were given because the banks had been encouraged by the government to take on greater risk to get more people in a home.

At the root of this crisis is our own sinful nature, our desire to have more at any cost. In the scripture above we are warned against measuring our life’s worth by what we own. Beware! the scriptures say, guard against every kind of greed.

In this scripture the farmer is a very hard worker and has acquired much material goods for his effort. Compare this with the years of excess that the United States has enjoyed. The farmer although very successful by farmers standards failed to understand that life was not just about how much wheat he could grow. This also correlates perfectly with the United States, for years we have enjoyed the success that all of our hard work has produced and we have made this success the focus of our lives.

We must pay close attention to the last part of this scripture and also take head to the warnings that it presents. We are foolish to chase after material wealth and take for granted the relationship that God desires to have with us.

We are warned, not that God will kill us because of our greed, but that life is too short to focus on what we can attain materially. Christian before you seek to gain more material wealth seek after the Kingdom of God, seek after the Heart of God.

Endless Prayer:

My prayer is that we would all seek first the Kindom of God and his will for our lives. I Pray that our eyes would be fixed on God and that we would all learn to be content with what we have. May we never be content in our relationship with God and always desire to be closer to him.
