(You can see the videos below.) Biebers is famously a fan of worship music. Last year he named “No Longer Slaves” from Jonathan and Melissa Helser of Bethel Music as one of his favorite songs. At a concert in L.A. late last year, he even brought author and pastor Judah Smith on stage to preach a sermon.

3 This 6-Year-Old’s Letter to the President About Syrian Refugees Is Incredible

Alex is just six years old. He lives in Scarsdale, New York. Last month, like people around the world, he was moved by the heartbreaking images of Omran Daqneesh, a five-year-old boy in Aleppo, Syria, sitting in an ambulance, in shock as he tried to wipe the blood from his hands.

Remember, the Bible Never Mentions A Building Called ‘Church'

This helps me because my son has a medical condition that prevents us from attending church. We have been all in at our church, volunteering in various areas where and when we can...all the time. But, right now we can't. And we're disconnected and out of sight out of mind...through no one's fault. It's just human nature. And we've all struggled with feeling like nothing anymore in the kingdom. But, every morning I pray for that church because I still love it and the people. Every week, very early in the AM when no one is around, I walk around it and pray. So, we're part of it that way, even though we can't meet when the church meets. Hopefully one day, his condition will approve and we can assemble like the Bible tells us. But, for people like us, this article helps, reminding me I am saved, part of the Kingdom, in my day to day living. Thank you.

7 Proven Ways to De-stress Your Life

“This often causes stress and people begin to avoid the very object which is life-giving: their relationship with God in Christ. When this happens something that might be helpful is to set time with God having no agenda—no devotional book, no Bible, no verses to memorize, no music, etc. Only you and God with the assignment of listening. Without fail when I give this assignment people begin to share their need to re-organize their life—prioritizing it to become less stressful and more available to pursue the better way of living for God, others and self.”

Divorce Is Heartbreaking. It Shouldn't Be a Spectacle

If you know someone whose relationship is struggling (or who has recently divorced), maybe you need to reach out to them. Just as we can become spectators to a celebrity divorce, we can also sit idly by as our loved ones suffer. Neither should be the case. You may not be able to fix anything, but you can be present. You might even be able to help them to more clearly see God and His best during a time when their vision might be a bit blurry.

Got Questions? Get Answers at Carowinds’s Christian Music Day

Have you ever been asked a question that you didn’t know how to answer? I’m not talking about comic-book or movie trivia, but specifically questions about Christianity. If you are a Christian in the information age, I can guarantee that all of us, especially if we are serious about sharing our faith, have been challenged with a question about the Christian faith: “What makes you think you’re right and all other religions are wrong?”; “Don’t you just think that what is true for you might not be true for someone else?”; “If God is a ‘loving father,’ then why is there evil?”; “In the era of scientific progression, how can you still believe in God?”, I’m sure you could add your own questions to this constantly growing list of objections.

13 Christianity is boring

How do you know? Have you tried it? There are millions of Christians who have a lot of fun being Christian. We just do it with a lot less sin, and therefore, a lot less problems. Maybe it's only your problems that keep you from getting bored.

Only Our God Speaks

First, we do not need to cry out like the priests of Baal, “O God, answer us,” because we recognize that our gathering only exists because God has called us out of darkness into the fellowship of light (1 Peter 2:9–10). The church is a verbally-founded gathering, and our worship begins with God’s voice calling to us, with hearing the voice that false worship can never coax from the nothingness. When you meet with your church this Sunday you gather with people who have already heard the voice of God and responded.

Use These Three Things To Judge The Trump Versus Hillary Election

When it comes to preserving the Constitution, a key question remains: Which of the two candidates would more likely be checked by Congress or challenged by the press corps? Even if only out of self-interest, Congressional Democrats would stand up to Trump if he were to exceed his constitutional powers. Republicans would stand up to him as well. Clinton, meanwhile, could count on roughly the same degree of resistance that Obama has received from Republicans (little) and Democrats (none). As for reporters, the gusto with which they would cover either administration can be ascertained by their coverage of the presidential campaign.

Jesus Is the Test of True Faith

And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen, and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent. You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. I do not receive glory from people. But I know that you do not have the love of God within you. I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him. How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope. For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?

A Cold-Case Detective Writes an Apologetics Book for Kids

WALLACE: There are many great resources on the market, so we wanted to do something different and complimentary. Cold-Case Christianity for Kids (CCC4K) has been written as an interactive experience. CCC4K has an accompanying interactive web Academy, designed to help readers learn good detective skills. Kids will join the three young characters in the book as they begin a Cadet Academy. Readers will be trained by Detective Alan Jeffries and if they watch the videos for each chapter, download and complete the fill-in sheets and activities, they’ll be able to earn an Academy Certificate. This Academy experience was inspired by my own involvement in the Police Explorer Academy as a teenager. Readers of CCC4K will become trained detectives as they investigate the evidence for Jesus.

Lay Aside the Weight of Thanklessness

In parents like these, we see an image of God’s heart for us. God does not command and exhort us to thank him because he loves to hear the “magic words” or watch us perform a mere divine courtesy. He’s after our spiritual health and prosperity. He does not want us to be spiritually sick and poor. He tells us that thanklessness is a sign of unbelief (Romans 1:21). But thankfulness is a sign of faith, evidence that we really see his grace and feel its effects. That’s what he wants for us.

What are the Toughest Ethical Issue Facing Christians Today? Interview with Dr. Scott Rae.

RAE: This idea of work and vocation is crucially important. The Bible teaches that since our work was ordained before the entrance of sin, it has intrinsic value, which means that it is good in and of itself. Of course it has instrumental value, in that it is useful for accomplishing other things, such as supporting a family, being able to give to the poor, having a platform for the gospel, etc. But work itself is an arena of service to God. Your work is part of your ministry. This means that the work you do is actually part of your service to God. I often ask people in the workplace to tell me about their ministry there--they almost always mention things that they are doing when they are not doing their jobs! The work itself is part of someone's service to Christ and and most prominent place where they can love their neighbor and be spiritually formed.

Trump vs. Muhammad: Part 1 (A Reply to Craig Considine) Rice University sociology lecturer Dr. Craig Considine has tweeted: “Prophet Muhammad protected ethnic and religious minorities with all his might. Contradictions: Eve’s Birth Certificate

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. ( Genesis 1:27–31 )

Couldn’t God Have Used Evolution?

I am fairly at a loss to comprehend how anyone, for a moment, can doubt that Christian theology must stand or fall with the historical trustworthiness of the Jewish Scriptures. The very conception of the Messiah, or Christ, is inextricably interwoven with Jewish history; the identification of Jesus of Nazareth with that Messiah rests upon the interpretation of the passages of the Hebrew Scriptures which have no evidential value unless they possess the historical character assigned to them. If the covenant with Abraham was not made; if circumcision and sacrifices were not ordained by Jahveh; if the ‘ten words’ were not written by God’s hand on the stone tables; if Abraham is more or less a mythical hero, such as Theseus; the Story of the Deluge a fiction; that of the Fall a legend; and that of the Creation the dream of a seer; if all these definite and detailed narratives of apparently real events have no more value as history than have the stories of the regal period of Rome—what is to be said about the Messianic doctrine, which is so much less clearly enunciated: And

Does the Bible Teach That Jesus is the Only God?

God, who lives in unapproachable light and whose presence no one is able to bear (1 Timothy 6:16), has now been revealed in Jesus. For Jesus to be at “the Father’s side,” is for him to be “in the bosom” (eis ton kolpon) of the Father. Commenting upon this passage, Andreas Köstenberger said that, “literally, John here says that Jesus is ‘in the Father’s lap,’ an idiom for greatest possible closeness.” And Jesus has “made him known.”

Descartes and the Anatomy of Doubt

So how does this affect the Christian in his struggle with the doubts that assail faith? The content of Christianity, in all its parts, cannot be reduced simplistically to Cartesian syllogisms. The lesson we learn from Descartes is this: when assailed by doubt, it is time to search diligently for first principles that are certain. We build upon the foundation of what is sure. This affects the whole structure of apologetics. It is a matter of order. It seems astonishing to the lay person that anybody would go to the extremes Descartes insisted simply to discover that he existed. What could be more self-evident to a conscious being than one’s own self-consciousness? But Descartes was not on a fool’s errand. In a world of sophisticated skepticism, Descartes sought certainty for something that could serve as a foundation for much, much more. He moved from the certitude of self-consciousness to the certitude of the existence of God, no small matter for the doubt-ridden believer. Descartes and others like him understood that to prove the existence of God is prior to affirming the trustworthiness of Scripture and the birth and work of the person of Christ.

When somebody’s having a tough time, it’s easy to be sympathetic. It’s easy to encourage people when they’re down. But sometimes what we can’t stand is when they get a promotion. We’re not very good at handling the success of other people. Rather than rejoicing in it, we resent it. In fact, we wish bad things would happen to people, because somehow we think that if we can blow out somebody else’s candle, ours will shine brighter.

Are Moral Truths An Illusion?

In my new book, God’s Crime Scene: A Cold-Case Detective Examines the Evidence for A Divinely Created Universe , I describe eight pieces of evidence “in the room” of the natural universe and ask a simple question: Can this evidence be explained by staying “inside the room” or is a better explanation “outside the room” of naturalism? One important piece of evidence I consider in this effort is the existence of objective, transcendent moral truths. Some philosophers and scientists deny the existence of moral truth altogether. As Richard Dawkins has famously asserted: “The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, and no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.”

Old Hollywood’s Abortion Secret

“Much like today, in Old Hollywood, the decisions being made about women’s bodies were made in the interests of men—the powerful heads of motion pictures studios MGM, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., and RKO,” write Marcie Bianco and Merryn Johns. And therefore, “from the very infancy of America’s film industry, abortions were necessary body maintenance for women in the spotlight.”

Why Argue about Evolution?

Instead of hitting each other over the head about evolution, maybe we could work together to solve some of this planet’s pressing problems (climate change, poverty, war, environmental degradation, wealth inequality, lack of health care and educational resources, prejudice, discrimination and so forth).

How I Found Healing for My Spiritual Blindness

It didn’t take long to find resources that promised the change I wanted. I read books and attended seminars that promised things like “seven steps to freedom”: freedom from lust, anger, worry, and resentment. I followed these steps. I tried to confess all known failures and surrender self-will, hoping that my devotion might catapult me to some higher plane of spiritual existence, like a gamer seeking to conquer lower levels to unlock the higher ones. I memorized Romans 6, flush with excitement that what Paul described there—the condition of being “dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus” (v. 11)—could be experienced. That’s what I wanted: to know and feel myself to be as unresponsive to temptation as a corpse is to the prick of a needle.

Priscilla and I have spent the last few years talking to dozens of top scientists and experts who believe it's possible to cure, prevent or manage all diseases by the end of this century. That doesn't mean no one will ever get sick, but it does that mean that we'll get sick a lot less, and that when we do, we'll always be able to identify and treat the problem, or at least manage it as a non-harmful condition …
