Why Does God Allow Pain And Suffering? A Difficult Question, The Answer Is Right Here!

It is one of the most difficult questions you can ask and probably one of the hardest to answer. When bad things happen to good people we are all stuck asking the question, why? These people come together to answer the question that so many have trouble with and it will blow you away.

The City of Brotherly Love Killed a Traveling Robot

As a social experiment, researchers in Toronto sent HitchBOT, a four-faced robot, to hitch rides across countries like Germany, the Netherlands, Canada and our own U.S.A. In July, the robot began its U.S. tour in Massachusetts. Then yesterday someone in Philly—you know, the city of brotherly love— tore off its arms and decapitated it . Ironically, HitchBOT met its end just a day before International Friendship Day. Before the bot lost it, HitchBOT had an Android-tablet brain and a built-in camera to see and a microphone to hear. Weirdly, HitchBOT knew something went wrong. "Oh, dear, my body was damaged, but I live on back home and with all my friends," it said. "I guess sometimes bad things happen to good robots!” The bright spot? Authorities claim this was only the city’s first robot murdered this year.

Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood and Racism

Given all the grisly and disturbing news we’ve been getting about Planned Parenthood—which is the nation’s largest provider of abortion, and  presumably, the body parts of unborn babies—would it surprise you at all to know that there’s also a quiet campaign to rehabilitate Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger as a champion of women’s dignity and human rights?

Renewing Your Mind | Christ's Message to the Church | August 3, 2015

The Reformers warned us that darkness will once again overcome large portions of the church if the gospel is not proclaimed and defended in every generation. Through the Apostle John, our Savior issued a similar warning to the seven churches of Asia Minor, calling them to return to Him lest they fall into darkness and their lampstands be removed. Dr. Sinclair Ferguson considers what Christ might have said if one of the seven letters to the churches in Revelation 2:3 had been specifically addressed to the church in the modern West in this message.

Holding to Sound Doctrine

During his apostolic ministry, the encroachment of false doctrine into the lives of Christians in the new churches was Paul’s greatest fear. He knew that doctrinal impurity was the underlying source for all kinds of ungodly behavior. Typical of Paul’s fears was his deep concern for the Corinthians’ spiritual welfare: “I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3).

Book Review: God's Crime Scene

In desperate situations, many people consider life beyond the material universe for the very first time. Tragedy has a way of redirecting our thoughts and pointing us to a life beyond the limits of our present experience “inside the room.” If there is a loving, Divine Creator who has designed us for an existence beyond the grave, it might not be unreasonable for this Creator to use hardship to refocus those of us who haven’t been paying attention. When we come to see the end of ourselves, we often start looking for something (and someone) “outside the room.” Some forms of perceived evil may simply be evidence of a loving effort to point us in the right direction.

Lead Well

The same standard exists for leaders who love the Church and work in industries outside of it. Christ followers represent Jesus to the world in everything we do. If we choose to lead poorly at work because it’s “business,” then I believe we are misrepresenting a Savior who would choose people first. I’m not saying we don’t have very difficult decisions to make that involve people, but choosing poor ethics and approaches that involve people cannot be our operating system.

China Sees Red: Christian Protest Puts Hundreds of Crosses Back in Public

Also in May, the government released new guidelines for church crosses: They must be short, no more than one tenth the height of the building’s facade. They must be unobtrusive, painted a color that blends in with the building. And they must be placed on the building, not above it. The rules mean that most remaining church crosses, which are usually red and elevated above the building, must be removed. (ChinaSource notes one Chinese pastor's six questions challenging the regulations. China Aid notes a Wenzhou pastor's explanation of the cross removals.)

The Man Who Shot Michael Brown

Reverend Starsky Wilson is the co-chair of the Ferguson Commission, whose members have been asked by Missouri’s governor, Jay Nixon, to study what factors might have contributed to the rioting. In Reverend Wilson’s view, the moment when Darren Wilson first spoke with Michael Brown was enormously consequential. “It frames the engagement and it sets a tone for the relationship,” he told me. But this moment couldn’t be isolated from all the mistakes that came before it. In places like Ferguson, police officers needed to spend more time in the schools, getting to know disadvantaged students, and they had to treat more residents as allies. He urged me to consider what might have happened if Wilson had known Brown, or Brown’s grandmother, and was able to say, “Does Miss Jenny know you’re out here?” Such a question, Reverend Wilson said, has a more potent moral authority. One afternoon this spring, I accompanied Darren and Barb Wilson to a park near their house, where they watched Barb’s younger son practice baseball. Darren wore shades and a baseball cap, and we stayed in the Wilsons’ S.U.

Wife Of Judge Who Blocked Pro-Life Videos Is A Pro-Abortion Activist

One of the more alarming “likes” on Mrs. Orrick’s Facebook page is of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, which are basically a campy gay version of Westboro Baptists. The group has been around San Francisco for 35 years, beginning when a few men obtained nun habits under false pretense. Members adopt profane names and blaspheme Jesus Christ and the Christian church . Some twenty years ago, the group began an Easter Sunday pub crawl parodying the stations of the cross, and sending up the Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene and other saints revered by Christians. They end the event by mocking the Eucharist with vanilla wafers and Jägermeister. They also hold a “Hunky Jesus” contest where men compete to be the sexiest Jesus look-alike. The group also supports abortion and has partnered with Planned Parenthood in the past.

Is Planned Parenthood Really Not About Abortion?

Thank you for taking time as a gospel-centered pastor to point out the truth about Planned Parenthood’s use of statistics to deflect attention from the fact it is America’s No. 1 abortion provider. An organization that received $487 million in government grants, contracts and reimbursements in the most recent fiscal year hardly needs less than $700,000 from a breast cancer charity, especially when Planned Parenthood centers do not do mammograms. Komen’s decision is a great encouragement to many Christians in this country. Planned Parenthood’s abortion business is a gospel issue. Its employees who push abortion instead of adoption to women in crisis, those women and others who want them to have abortions, and the babies need to be rescued from sin and/or death. Your blog is a regular encouragement to me. Thank you for speaking the truth winsomely and boldly once again.

The Gospel in India

Vivek : Marg , which means “The Way” in most Indian languages, seeks to permeate cities with communities of faith. We have three churches in Pune that live as believing communities among the people God has brought us to. The ministry depends greatly on the people of the church. My role is to equip them for ministry and to work alongside them. We engage our neighborhoods relationally and open up our lives so that the neighborhood sees what it means to be disciples of Jesus in the everyday stuff of life. The church’s familial orientation throughout the week is integral to our witness. We disciple one another in life-on-life situations and through ordered learning as we seek to faithfully teach the Bible and its implications for every sphere of life. Equally important is our emphasis on teaching our communities to consciously live by the life of Christ indwelling us and our fellow family members.

What Surrendering to God Looks Like

I was so surprised. I remember just sitting there and absorbing this peace like, “Hey, you know what, I’m OK.” Now, I definitely apologized and I tried to make right, but I also left it and didn’t let it define me—and I didn’t let it define my actions going forward. I was like, “God, this is what life change looks like. This is what you’ve been talking about when I read verses about freedom.” This is the intangible thing that changes and shifts in your soul when you truly love God more than anything else on earth. That’s what I hope happens for people is that they would experience that shift.

29 The Planned Parenthood Videos: Organ Donations and Euphemisms - Stand to Reason Blog

And it's not at all ridiculous to think that if organ transactions are financially benefitting (or in some other way benefitting) Planned Parenthood, that those transactions are increasing the influence of Planned Parenthood—in advertising, in political lobbying, in gaining customers, etc. This has a result of more people going to Planned Parenthood and getting abortions. Anything that builds up Planned Parenthood increases the number of abortions they do. It also incentivizes PP to push abortion on the women who come in for counsel. If the woman decides to keep the baby, PP loses not only the money from the abortion, but also the money from the organs (or the donation money from the research institutions, or lobbying support, or whatever). It's in PP's interest in every way to lead women to have abortions. This is an added incentive that will increase their efforts to obtain abortions (through advertising, etc.).

Christian Apologetics - What Is Christian Apologetics?

Christian apologetics represents the serious and sustained engagement with ‘ultimate questions’ raised by a culture, people group, or individual aiming to show how the Christian faith is able to provide meaningful answers to such questions. Where is God in the suffering of the world? Is faith in God reasonable? Apologetics clears the ground for evangelism, just as John the Baptist prepared the way for the coming of Jesus of Nazareth. …Evangelism…issues a personal invitation: ‘You are invited to the feast! Please come!’ Apologetics lays the ground for this invitation; evangelism extends it. Both are an essential part of the mission of the church

7 Bible Verses to Look Over When You Are Having Trouble Sleeping

When Will Planned Parenthood be Forced to Denounce Margaret Sanger? - The Wardrobe Door

If education, technical assistance, and public opinion fail to limit the number of babies within certain groups of the population to the country’s capacity for taking care of them, then it may be advisable to adopt more drastic procedure. I hesitate to suggest when this might be, because so many of us Americans are afraid of any new forms of “regimentation.” It will probably always be said that sex relations and parenthood are matters too intimate for any interference by public authorities. Of course, there is already a considerable amount of interference, or, if you prefer the term, regulation through marriage and divorce laws. I wonder if it will also become necessary to establish a system of birth permits. At present a marriage license is a birth permit, as well a permit for a man and a woman to maintain a common household. Suppose, for purposes of discussion of something that may not prove to be practicable, we add the following clauses to the proposed Baby Code:

Does Modesty Apply to Men?

Truth be told, we watched and fantasized about those men repeatedly. All the while, we attended church youth group, and it never occurred to me that we were crossing a line (i.e., lusting). Ironically, I did not think highly of men who ogle over women’s bodies. And I questioned the modesty of women who receive payment to dress and act hot in movies. The double standard didn’t occur to me until embarrassingly later in life.

Someone Set Off Explosions Outside Two Churches in New Mexico

Sunday morning, someone set off explosions outside two churches in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The small blasts happened just 20 minutes and a few miles apart. The first, at about 8:20 a.m., blew up a mailbox on a wall of Calvary Baptist Church. Then the second blast, around 8:40 a.m., exploded in a trash can outside Holy Cross Catholic. Each building sustained minor damage from the incidents that authorities say don’t “appear to be coincidental.” In a press conference, New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez called the presumed goal of intimidating those who worship a failed effort. And she promised to catch the "coward" who ignited the blasts.

Raising future men and women

There are no generic people. There are men, and there are women. Consequently there are no generic Christian people. There are Christian men and there are Christian women. In Genesis 1-2, Ephesians 5, 1 Peter 3, and Colossians 3, we find clarity about the primary roles of men and women. There are differing ways in which men and women will live out the Christian life. For instance, when giving specific instruction and admonition to men, the Bible usually does so within three key categories: leading, providing and protecting. In other words, biblical masculinity involves a heart that is inclined to obey God within this particular context of leadership, provision and protection. This may take place predominantly as husbands and fathers, but it still should be cultivated, encouraged and instilled in boys as they mature into manhood.

First Female Coach Enters the ‘Man’s World’ of the NFL

For years, media, fans, and NFL insiders speculated whether or not a woman could ever join the ranks of an NFL coaching staff . Many were, and remain, skeptical. As Mike Francesa put it on his daily talk show , “I did not think, folks, that I would see a female coach in the NFL...It’s not that she can’t know the x’s and o’s—it’s not about the x’s and o’s. It’s about the idea of how football teams are run.” For years it’s been said that women can’t coach football because they don’t play football. Welter’s resume, however, tells a different story.

Christian Rapper Flame Explains Why the 'Death of Cultural Christianity Will Help the Gospel'

"We've assumed for so long that America is a Christian nation. We assume it's a pseudo kingdom of heaven and God is doing something extra special in America, as if this is a theocracy where God rules like Ancient Israel. And I think it's helpful for people to know the reality of our current state. Yes, the framers of the Constitution were informed by some Christian ideas and that was very helpful. But when people can realize God's true heart for repentance and reconciliation, versus being a good person, it helps them to rightly access where they are in their lives," said Flame to CP Voice .

The moral imperative for bioethics - The Boston Globe

A truly ethical bioethics should not bog down research in red tape, moratoria, or threats of prosecution based on nebulous but sweeping principles such as “dignity,” “sacredness,” or “social justice.” Nor should it thwart research that has likely benefits now or in the near future by sowing panic about speculative harms in the distant future. These include perverse analogies with nuclear weapons and Nazi atrocities, science-fiction dystopias like “Brave New World’’ and “Gattaca,’’ and freak-show scenarios like armies of cloned Hitlers, people selling their eyeballs on eBay, or warehouses of zombies to supply people with spare organs. Of course, individuals must be protected from identifiable harm, but we already have ample safeguards for the safety and informed consent of patients and research subjects.

When Cancer Interrupts

Powlison opens the 20-page essay by noting that cancer is never expected or wanted. The person receiving a cancer diagnosis feels violated and betrayed. He or she can be disoriented, overwhelmed, and anxious (3). One’s faith in God is put to the test by the threat of what cancer might mean for him or her. Cancer tests you, says Powlison, yet “that is exactly where Christ meets you” (5). He quotes Psalm 46:1–2: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way.” He then comments, “Those are not just words in a book. When you take them to heart, you find them true” (4). The style of the essay is conversational, the tone frank but compassionate. Powlison is confident in God and reassuring of Christian readers. He knows about which—and about whom—he writes.

Three Things Jesus Never Told to Make Disciples

A line of curriculum . Jesus never looked at curriculum and told it to make disciples. While it’s the ease of video that’s appealing, in this case the appeal is about knowledge. Just as with video, there is nothing wrong with using Bible study curriculum. But if that’s the sole means of discipling people, then we are in danger of helping people accumulate a great deal of knowledge and a very anemic amount of obedience and service.
