Here’s the Trippy New Video for John Mark McMillan’s ‘Wilderlove’

John Mark McMillan's newest video, "Wilderlove" premiered today, and it's unlike anything we've seen. Directed by Jared Hogan, the video is shot vertically and features one person—at most—in the shot at a time. Most of the video features John, with appearances from a dancing elderly man and a few inanimate objects. It's pretty trippy. Watch for yourself:

The Evidence for Christianity Doesn't "Tell" Us Anything

I’m usually careful to avoid making overly aggressive claims when sharing the evidence for Christianity. I seldom tell anyone I can “prove” Christianity is true. Instead, I typically say something like, “I’d be happy to share the evidence I found compelling.” In my experience, there’s a big difference between “proof” and “evidence” . Journalists are seldom careful, however, in distinguishing between the two. I did a quick Internet search and found the following articles:

3 Welcome to College

Morrow writes, “Now that you have successfully survived high school, it’s time to embark on the challenging process of owning your faith in college. Up until now, your parents and youth pastor have probably played a significant role in shaping your Christian convictions — and that's a good thing. But your dad, mom, and youth pastor aren’t here to tell you what to believe anymore. You will have to discover what you really believe. . . . There will be many voices offering their opinions. You'll have to decide which ones to listen to and why.”

I now get the privilege of sharing other people’s questions as my life’s work, of giving them a safe place to be real without judgment. I’m part of an amazing global community and a loving local church family that both allow me to unearth the uncertainty and be OK with it all. And I believe I have a God who understands everything I know and don’t know.

Busyness Is Not the Problem

I wonder how I got here — the chaos, the mess, the failing — and I strategize how to make tomorrow better. This is just a season and it will pass. But is it? And will it? I suppose the seasons have been different. Whether it was adolescence, or insecurity, or exams, or finances, or breakups, or stressful jobs, or moves, or pregnancies, or anxiety, or babies, or hard relationships, or traveling, or sickness, or parenting, or just sheer exhaustion. But so often it’s just one thing replacing another thing. Another fire to put out. Another mountain to climb. And as a doer and a fixer, the to-do list is never-ending and there’s always something to improve or put back together.

Digital Fortresses and Face-to-Face Love

For the apostles, writing remotely meant the possibility of being misunderstood, or minimized — since they weren’t present in person to hold their hearers accountable. And being more easily misunderstood is doubtless a drawback we experience today. However, perhaps an even greater danger for us, with countless tools for remote communication at our fingertips, is how our sinful hearts love to hide our real selves behind a carefully constructed fortress of remote control.

http://truthbomb.blogspot.com/2016/08/what-is-difference-between-shia-and.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Taken from gotquestions.org   here : The main difference between Sunnis and Shias lies in their interpretation of the rightful succession of leadership after the death of the prophet Muhammad. The declaration of faith to which all Muslims assent is this: There is no God but Allah, whose prophet is Muhammad. However, the Shiites add an extra phrase at the end: and Ali is the friend of God. Because the Shiites passionately attest to Ali being the successor to Muhammad, much feuding and division have been caused in the world of Islam, not unlike the feuding between Protestants and Roman Catholics in Europe during the Reformation. However, the schism that sets up the major sects of Islam is not due to doctrinal issues, as between Protestants and Catholics, but is grounded in the identity of the “true successor” to Muhammad. Among the close disciples of Muhammad was Ali, his son-in-law, who was most familiar with his teachings. However, when Muhammad died in A.D. 632, the followers bypassed Ali, whom the Shiites claim as the rightful successor to Muhammad. Instead, a cousin of Muhammad’s third successor, Uthman (A.

Is Science the Sole Means of Knowing Truth? No Chance.

More to the point, though, it is transparent nonsense: most of the things we know to be true, often quite indubitably, do not fall within the realm of what can be tested by empirical methods; they are by their nature episodic, experiential, local, personal, intuitive, or purely logical. The sciences concern certain facts as organized by certain theories, and certain theories as constrained by certain facts; they accumulate evidence and enucleate hypotheses within very strictly limited paradigms; but they do not provide proofs of where reality begins or ends, or of what the dimensions of truth are. They cannot even establish their own working premises—the real existence of the phenomenal world, the power of the human intellect accurately to reflect that reality, the perfect lawfulness of nature, its mathematical regularity, and so forth—and should not seek to do so, but should confine themselves to the truths to which their methods give them access.

Research: Most People Looking for a New Church Are Looking for Better Preaching

According to the data , almost half of Americans will look for a new church or congregation at some point in their (adult) lives, mostly because they moved to a new location. Some people do leave their congregations because of theological disagreements, but somewhat surprisingly that’s not a significant percentage. What's interesting, though, is what people searching for a new church are actually looking to find.

5 Conversations You Need to Have Before Getting Married

If you want to live with your spouse until death separates you, you need to be headed in the same direction when it comes to the most important aspects of life. Marriage is hard enough when you agree on things. Disagreeing on the essentials will jam a wedge between you and your spouse.

Millennials Don't Want Your Sex for Now. Here's Why

Many of us made purity vows, and youth group conversations revolved around burning questions: “How far is too far? What [sexual behavior] is and is not OK?” Some held to their vows. Others tested limits without actually having sex (defined as intercourse). And many rushed to the altar believing it better to marry than burn with passion (1 Corinthians 7:9).

Are Apologetics and Faith Opposed to One Another?

I’ve been blessed in that both of the local churches I’ve been involved with as an adult Christian have provided some exposure to apologetics.  It may not have always had as forefront a focus as I’d have preferred, but it was always addressed.  After one of these lessons, however, one of the other members made this observation (paraphrased):

Do Wedding Ceremonies and Religious Beliefs Matter to God? - Christian Research Institute

A Jehovah’s Witness has a completely different Jesus. The Jesus of Christianity is the one who spoke and the universe leaped into existence. The Jesus of the Jehovah’s Witnesses is the archangel Michael, who was during his earthly sojourn merely human, and after his death recreated as an immaterial spirit creature. The Jesus of the Jehovah’s Witnesses is neither the Jesus of the Bible nor is their plan of salvation a biblical plan of salvation—it’s about what you do as opposed to what Jesus Christ has done for you. Jesus Christ, according to the Jehovah’s Witnesses, is not even the creator of all things. He was created by God and became a junior partner in the creation of all other things. Neither is the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Bible nor their authority equivalent to the Christian Bible. The New World Translation is a perverted translation of the Bible. Christianity and the Jehovah’s Witnesses are two religious systems. One based in history and evidence and the other cultic that can never be harmonized.

Listen with Your Ears — and Heart

When we talk with someone we expect to disagree with, our first goal should not be to defeat them but to understand them. Understanding someone does not mean we only listen long enough to identify what we disagree with so we can launch a counterattack. We know we’ve understood them when we can articulate back to them — in a faithful and agreeable summary — what we’ve heard, and they respond, “Yes, that is exactly right!”

God’s Solution to the ‘Nones’ Who Have Left the Faith | The Stream

With regard to divine encounter, it is very possible, if not highly probable, that many of those who left the faith never were truly in the faith, meaning, they may have attended religious services and participated in religious rites, but they didn’t know the Lord for themselves. And religion without God can be boring, empty, dry, and even dangerous. As the German evangelist Reinhard Bonnke once commented, “Christianity, boring? So is television … if we don’t plug in.”

Red, Yellow, Black, and White — Could Every Race Come from Adam, Eve, and Noah?

Here is one of those paradoxes in God’s ruling over the history of the world. On the one hand, the division of humanity into languages and ethnicities was a kind of judgment. Nevertheless, on the other hand, it was clearly part of God’s overarching intention in the plan of salvation that Christ would be known and loved and praised, not by a single ethnicity, but by thousands of peoples and ethnicities and languages, because Christ gets more glory by being honored from a diversity of peoples than a single people. So, this is another example of how evil in the world is orchestrated and overruled by God for Christ-exalting, saving purposes in the end.

The Gospel According to 'Stranger Things'

The show’s protagonist is a girl named Eleven. She is pretty clearly a Christ figure (Her nickname, El, even means “God” in Hebrew). She has a mysterious birth story and her true father is never mentioned, even though her mother does make an appearance. She possesses seemingly miraculous telekinetic powers. While in captivity, government officials “tempt” her to use her powers to kill a cat, which she refuses to do, paralleling Satan’s temptation of Jesus in the wilderness ( Matthew 4:1-11 ).
