Watch Justin Timberlake, Steph Curry and Alfonso Ribeiro Do the Carlton

Fact: Watching Alfonso Ribeiro doing the “Carlton Dance,” made famous on Fresh Prince, never gets old. It NEVER gets old, and is the ultimate crowd-pleaser, even while out on a golf course. At the recent American Century Championship tournament in Lake Tahoe, NBA star Steph Curry, Justin Timberlake and Carlton and himself, Alfonso Ribeiro, hit the links together, and seemed to have a pretty good time. And, as this video shows, they did a lot of dancing. Somewhere, Tom Jones is smiling.

The New ‘Lego Batman Movie’ Trailer Is Hilarious

For the most part, big screen Batman adventures have mostly been humorless affairs, focusing on the brooding anti-hero’s dark side. The Lego Batman movie changes that formula. As this clip—which features Will Arnett’s Batman and Michael Cera's Robin—is actually pretty hilarious and is a strong indication that adults are going to like this installment in the Batman cinematic catalogue just as much as kids. It hits theaters in February. It's not the Batman we deserve, but the one we need right now.

Reasons To Believe : How a Christian Worldview Influenced America’s Founding Fathers

The Christian notion of equality says that people are equal because (1) God made humanity in His image; and (2) He loved us enough to have sacrificed His Son for each of us. Rather than being based on abilities, appearance (race, ethnicity, sex), achievements, or social position, a person’s worth is inherent. We are equal simply because God values us equally. Human worth is God dependent and God ordained; human assessment is irrelevant. The founding fathers recognized this view of humanity in the Declaration of Independence’s famous opening statements :

5 Abandoning Scripture, Abandoning Faith and Morals

And Oliveto wasn’t finished. In perhaps her most telling admission, she warned against having too high a view of Scripture.  “The text, the Bible, is not God,” she said, adding that any true “biblical theology” covers both “the benefits and the flaws” of Scripture. As an example of a “flaw,” Oliveto decried the Bible’s “theology of election and chosenness,” such as the Jews being God’s chosen people, which she blamed for everything from colonialism, to slavery, to the “destruction of native cultures and religions,” to racism, and to the oppression of homosexuals.

6 When the Sky Really Is Falling

This is not new. Back in the ‘30s and ‘40s, German Christians had to take a clear stand or be absorbed or compromised by evil—and some, like Bonhoeffer, chose the cross. Look at our brothers and sisters in the Middle East. Now, I’m not ready to say we American Christians may soon have to apostasize or die, but I can’t help but think of the words of the late Cardinal George, who said he would die in his bed, his successor would die in prison, and his successor will die a martyr in the public square.

Online Shaming Is Destroying Lives

For Ronson, the key is not only recognizing when the impulse to shame people becomes misplaced, but also embracing a community that engages ideas instead of attacking them. “The fact that we surround ourselves around people who feel the same way we do, that makes us more enraged when somebody transgressive comes along,” he says. “Maybe this is something that goes on in Christian communities as well. If you surround yourself with people who feel exactly the same way as you do, that’s kind of undemocratic. When somebody comes around that feels differently to the way you do, you’re more likely to tear them to pieces because you see them as so outlandish compared to the mutual approval machine of your Twitter followers or your church community.”

How Philosophy Relates to the Bible

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Did You Know? Jesus Features in Most Religions

You’ve probably heard the phrase: “All religions are basically the same”. This can’t logically be true. All religions say completely different things about the nature of truth, if there is a God, how to access God, what – if anything- is wrong with humanity, how to rectify what is wrong with humanity, what happens after you die, etc, etc.

Is It Immoral to Believe in God? - Christian Research Institute

Ruse, however, moves beyond arguing from atrocities. What leads to moral issues is that there are “arguments going both ways” when it comes to the existence of God. The question of God’s existence is not as easily solved as basic mathematical questions, such as 1+1=2. Indeed it is not, and nor for that matter is any philosophical, moral, or political issue. Ruse’s own discipline of analytic philosophy is full of disputes about the nature of mathematical truth, what distinguishes science from pseudoscience, whether science gives us truth or simply empirically adequate models, the existence and origin of objective morality, and so on. None of these are solved as easily as basic mathematics. Surely Ruse, however, is not claiming that it is immoral to hold any philosophical beliefs. Is there something morally problematic, for example, about holding to a particular account of what distinguishes science from nonscience? Or is it morally problematic to hold moral beliefs, such as the belief that it is immoral to believe in God? What exactly, then, is the problem?

D.A. Dismisses All Bogus Charges Against David Daleiden for Exposing Planned Parenthood |

“David Daleiden’s courage and fortitude to expose the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, should have been met with immediate investigation and prosecution of the baby parts profit-making scheme by the Harris County District Attorney. Yet, it was David instead of Planned Parenthood who took the heat for daring to show the nation what our tax dollars have been funding. Planned Parenthood needs to be held accountable for their horrendous business practices of betraying their clients and selling their babies piece-by-piece for profit. We need to get to the bottom of why rampant corruption occurred during the investigation in Harris County. The DA made a mockery of the office, colluded with an organization that should have had its employees arrested and charged for criminal conduct, and indicted a journalist who exposed Planned Parenthood.

What King David Can Teach Us About Overcoming Political Anxiety

Fortunately, we Christians have an antidote, for the Bible has much to say about anxiety, fear, and worry. In fact, there is a political leader in Scripture from whom we can learn much about dealing with anxiety and fear: King David. But before we consider how to cope with these emotions let’s look at what we should know about them.

Eventually it turns out that their game knowledge is applicable to real life—they take for granted that things beyond common “philosophy,” as Hamlet puts it, are there, and that instead of sitting around contemplating this mystery they ought to focus on the objective and save their friend. What the Magic Kingdom Reminds Us About the Eternal Kingdom

We are anxious at Disney World because we are in transit. We are always on our way to somewhere else. Either we are making our way through a crowd to our next ride, anxious that someone else is going to get a better spot in line than us, or we are standing in line, impatiently waiting for the ride to begin, which will last less than a quarter of the time we waited for it. If we are not waiting for a ride, then we are waiting for a bus to take us to the next theme park or back to our hotel so that we can rest up for the rigors of tomorrow’s visit. If you are the paying adult, you do not want to break all this waiting down to calculate the cost per minute. With that said, we had a good time, but the similarities and differences between the promises of the Magic Kingdom and the eternal Kingdom kept coming up. During our trip, four things caught my attention.

Trump as God's Man for the Hour - R.C. Sproul Jr.

You don’t have to listen long to the Jesus Changes Everything podcast to know that when it comes to politics, I’m a pretty lonely fellow. There are out there these great, massive camps, these dominant political parties, that are constantly in struggle and in battle for dominance over the political scene. I often wonder why the struggle is so strong, seeing not a whole lot of difference between the two. I’ve made it clear over the years that my perspective is this: No man will receive my vote for any office, unless he is publicly committed to use every power of his office to protect every unborn child. Now, if you listen to those words carefully, then you would realize that really narrows down my options. That’s not a big field of candidates to choose from.

Yet Another Reason to Believe Our Finite Universe Points to the Existence of God

According to these theories, the expansion of the universe would eventually slow under the gravitational attraction of its own mass, resulting in matter flying past itself in close proximity as the universe contracted to a region of incredible concentration. The universe would then appear to “bounce back” from this gravitational cycle, beginning yet another period of expansion. This would therefore explain the expansion we observe in our universe without having to acknowledge this expansion as evidence of a universe with a single origination event (known as a cosmic singularity). Instead of a universe that is expanding from its single point of origin, oscillating models describe a universe that is cycling between expansion and contraction (we simply happen to exist in an expansion period for the universe).

Questions to Ask Before We Gossip

When we learn new information about another person, we have several options. We can speak to that person about what we’ve learned, speak to other people about it, or keep it to ourselves and speak to God. Gossip is saying behind someone’s back what we should say to their face, or not at all. But life is complex. Sometimes we must seek prayer and wisdom from godly friends when struggling with difficult relationships with a child, spouse, neighbor, co-worker, or fellow church-member. It’s in these situations that we should be particularly careful that our counsel-seeking doesn’t simply become an excuse for gossip.

Christians Need to Recover the Lost Art of Patience

So how do we learn patience? Patience is about love and value. The more we love others, the easier it is to be patient with them. The more we value and respect someone, the longer it takes them to get on our nerves. What often makes us impatient is that the person we love the most, in many scenarios, is ourselves. The time we value most is our own. The dreams we care most about fulfilling are ours. Impatience comes because, especially as Christians, we care and think way too much about ourselves. A little humility, a little consideration and value for others would go a long way in building the foundation of our patience.

A Religion of Peace? with Jay Smith

Islamic nations are firebombing, arresting, torturing, and murdering Christians by the hundreds of thousands, but almost no one is willing to acknowledge the causal link between Islam and terrorism. But Islamic scholar and Christian polemicist Jay Smith knows better than to buy into that trend. Smith debates Muslims regularly, has brought many to faith in Christ, and, in this insightful interview, exposes the unvarnished truth about real Islam, the Koran, and Muhammad himself.

BREAKING: Texas dismisses felony charges against David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt

“The dismissal of the bogus, politically motivated charges against CMP project lead David Daleiden and investigator Sandra Merritt is a resounding vindication of the First Amendment rights of all citizen journalists, and also a clear warning to any of Planned Parenthood's political cronies who would attack whistleblowers to protect Planned Parenthood from scrutiny,” said David Daleiden this morning. “Planned Parenthood tried to collude with public officials to manipulate the legal process to their own benefit, and they failed.”

Couldn’t God Have Used Evolution?

I am fairly at a loss to comprehend how anyone, for a moment, can doubt that Christian theology must stand or fall with the historical trustworthiness of the Jewish Scriptures. The very conception of the Messiah, or Christ, is inextricably interwoven with Jewish history; the identification of Jesus of Nazareth with that Messiah rests upon the interpretation of the passages of the Hebrew Scriptures which have no evidential value unless they possess the historical character assigned to them. If the covenant with Abraham was not made; if circumcision and sacrifices were not ordained by Jahveh; if the ‘ten words’ were not written by God’s hand on the stone tables; if Abraham is more or less a mythical hero, such as Theseus; the Story of the Deluge a fiction; that of the Fall a legend; and that of the Creation the dream of a seer; if all these definite and detailed narratives of apparently real events have no more value as history than have the stories of the regal period of Rome—what is to be said about the Messianic doctrine, which is so much less clearly enunciated: And

38 Constantine and the Church by W. Robert Godfrey | July 26, 2016

Emperor Constantine the Great has received much attention throughout the history of the church—and rightfully so. His conversion to Christianity and the sweeping changes it brought to the church and the empire instituted a new era in history, one that would change the church forever. Whether for good or for ill, the combination of church and state has created a lasting impact on the people of God, and this lesson explores the beginning of the transition and illuminates the motives and historical context behind this monumental shift in Western history.

The Divine Attributes of Scientific Laws - Westminster Theological Seminary

It seems outrageous to include the agnostics and atheists. But by their actions people sometimes show that in a sense they believe in things that they profess not to believe. Bakht, a Vedantic Hindu philosopher, may say that the world is an illusion. But he does not casually walk into the street in front of an oncoming bus. Sue, a radical relativist, may say that there is no truth. But she travels calmly at 30,000 feet on a plane whose safe flight depends on the unchangeable truths of aerodynamics and structural mechanics.

45 Renewing Your Mind | Marx | July 27, 2016

Are you a productive member of society? Are you getting a fair wage for your work? Sometimes it seems that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Is there something wrong with the way we measure the value of our work? Karl Marx thought so. But his solution to fix the struggles of the working class went far beyond economics. In this message, Dr. Sproul discusses the foundational doctrine of Marxism and the disastrous effects it has left in its wake.

Can an Unchanging God Be Compassionate?

send to a friend #2  Posted by Tim  |  Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 6:55 AM Not surprisingly, I am having trouble understanding the concept of impassibility. In a paragraph above you state: The necessary implication of God’s immutability is that He is not subject to shifting moods, flashes of temper, fluctuating dispositions, or seasons of despondency. In theological terms, God is impassible. That means He cannot be moved by involuntary emotions, suffering, pain, or injury. In the words of the Westminster Confession of Faith (2.1), God is “infinite in being and perfection, a most pure spirit, invisible, without body, parts, or passions.” Yet in Isaiah 54:8, it states that "In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment...". I am asking how the word 'passions' is defined in the Westminster Confession of Faith? I can grasp the concept of 'without body [or] parts' but not without 'passions'.

Funeral Faux Pas - Christian Research Institute

Funerals can be a prime opportunity for believers to share the gospel with unbelievers and comfort grieving believers with the promise of being with God, the hope of a future resurrection. This opportunity is sometimes lost, however, when people make incorrect statements or blend worldviews indiscriminately. I, like most of us, have attended a number of funerals in my life. Something said at one Christian funeral I attended struck me as very odd: “Today, God has given your loved one a new body.” I looked at the casket and thought to myself, “I know the body is still in that casket. How could he be resurrected?” After hearing this, I began to pay special attention to what people say at funerals. Many well-meaning people, in an attempt to comfort grieving family and friends, say things that misrepresent the true nature of humans and what happens to us when we die. These misstatements, or theological “faux pas,” can confuse believers as well as unbelievers regarding the truth about death.
