Hillary Clinton Addresses Her Controversial Abortion Comments: The Unborn Have No Rights

Yesterday, Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton was asked about the controversial comments she made over the weekend, which drew criticism from both sides of the abortion debate. On Sunday, she told NBC’s Meet the Press that “The unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.” The statement was criticized by abortion rights advocates for assigning personhood to the unborn, and by pro-life advocates for denying them basic human rights. Yesterday, while visiting The View, co-host Paula Faris asked Clinton, "At what point does someone have constitutional rights, and are you saying that a child, on its due date, just hours before delivery, still has no constitutional rights?” Clinton responded, Under our law that is the case, Paula. I support Roe v. Wade because I think it is [an important] statement about the importance of a woman making this most difficult decision with consultation by whom she chooses. You can see the entirety of her statements below.

Watch Jeff Bridges Warn About the Devastating Effects Plastic Is Having on the Environment

The Dude wants you to be informed about the dangers of plastic. Jeff Bridges recently partnered with the Plastic Pollution Coalition for this public service message about the devastating effects the manmade substance is having on our oceans—and our health. The video includes some pretty terrifying stats, including the fact that pieces of plastic on the surface of the ocean outnumbers sea life, six-to-one. The video is a scary look at the effects of consumption, but does offer some helpful tips about fixing the problem.

7 Unbiblical Statements Christians Believe

The fact that many Christians believe these unbiblical statements shows our unfortunate overall biblical illiteracy. Instead of swallowing popular statements hook-line-and-sinker, may we be like the Bereans in the Book of Acts. When they heard Paul preach, they wanted to research the Scriptures themselves to authenticate what he was saying: “They received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so” (Acts 17:10-11).

15 Things to Start Doing By the Time You’re 30

This article is very interesting and helpful that´s why I like it and also for the excellent information that it contains about things and activities that we supposedly should do before the thirties, it explains us in a nice way with details and example every activity, nevertheless it says that if we have not done those things before turning thirty, we should try to do them, the time that we decided to start it does not matter, remember it is never too late to start. In fact we have to learn to unplug of stressful things that surround us, and we should take the advice that the paragraph is telling us, and enjoy the life with our special people because the life is only one and that is our opportunity to do those activity, although it has challenging ways but we can, so let´s go now we are young, so we can do it, and we try to take good decision to get better life. Anyway my favorite part is where it says “instead of waiting for a gift in every birthday until the thirties, look for something to donate'' because the life is not just receiving, whether no it is also giving and sharing with other people.

12 Essential Bonhoeffer Quotes

Many of Bonhoeffer’s actions seem nonsensical when viewed with an objective eye. He split from the German Church to form the Confessing Church, he got involved in an assassination plot (against Hitler), he returned to Germany from the safety of the U.S. right before the war reached its worst. But put all together, they reveal the story of a man of great conviction, who was willing to go against the norm and undergo suffering for his people and for the God he was committed to following. He was a man who, by the end of his life, really understood the cost of discipleship he famously wrote about.

9 Things Everyone Should Do When Reading the Bible

The only thing that matters when reading any ancient document is context. Context. Context. Context. Learning Greek and Hebrew will not really help you if you still don't understand context. And number 8 is the only one that even touches on context? Out of a list of 9 things?? Who writes this stuff? This reads more like a superficial Huffpost article than a guide to Bible study.

Will I Be Single Forever?

But, all in all, I found singleness pretty tough. There were seasons of terrible loneliness when I wondered if God would ever give me a lifelong companion. At times I was like a severed powerline, the voltage of unfulfilled longing causing me to thrash about in ways that hurt others. I was sometimes jealous of married friends. I did not always navigate singleness with grace, poise, deep faith, and steadfast joy. Instead, I blundered between enjoyment and regret, happiness and longing, purity and sin.

I Wasn’t Ready for Marriage

Recently, my husband and I passed a milestone: It’s been a year since he sent the text message that began our relationship: “Hey, you. Let me know when’s a good time to talk.” I yelped, tossed my phone, and ran downstairs panting, “I’m not ready!”

Why Hospitality Beats Entertaining

But more importantly, I regret that tweet because I have come to recognize that the standard it proposed is flawed. It revealed my own lack of understanding about the nature and purpose of hospitality. In my self-righteous desire to offer advice, I had confused hospitality with its evil twin, entertaining.

Why Your Prayers Aren't 'Working'

I love our corporate prayer times at church because it reminds me to pray with faith and expectancy. We meet weekly for a dedicated hour of corporate prayer, and it is truly a beautiful sight. It's also quite obvious that there is a atmosphere of expectancy. There’s really no other way to explain why hundreds of people would show up to pray together in the middle of the week. We don't just show up to pray. We show up to pray to watch God move.

We invite you to the conference for women, but not all about women. It's a gathering of women around the Word of God. To this third TGC Women's Conference, we come joyfully but soberly, knowing that suffering meets us at every hand, right at home and all across the globe. What better book for us in 2016 than 1 Peter—packed with gospel perspective on our short lives. It's a little epistle, but it gives us a big view of who we are in Christ and how we are to live as redeemed sojourners in this world. How do we stand firm in God's true grace? How do we offer a strong shining witness to Jesus Christ even in the midst of fiery trials? Peter points us insistently to the Lord Jesus, to his suffering on our behalf, and to the resurrection life he makes possible for those who believe in him. At TGCW16 we won't be getting away from real life; we will be seeing it clearly, in light of gospel help and hope. By God's grace, we will go away better prepared to live and share resurrection life, in a world of suffering.

How the Gospel Frees Us From the American Dream

The first situation and insight that Ms. Rojas relates--her friend who left a ministry for "corporate America" so she could "bring oceans to deserts"--calls to mind a helpful distinction I heard, maybe a decade age or more, on a radio broadcast of some church service. The pastor/preacher was encouraging the majority of his congregation not to see working or volunteering for the church as "more holy" than "secular" jobs and activities. Instead, he called on them to know the difference between doing "church work" and "the work of the church." The preacher's message was that this second kind of work, a different way of saying, "Bring oceans to deserts," is the way the vast majority of Christians serve the Lord, and please him. "God calls most of us not to do 'church work' but to live out our holiness by doing 'the work of the church.'"

Sunday Morning with the Simpsons

One Sunday, I was at home with our firstborn, James. I stayed home that Sunday morning to be with him while Dowd went to church. I expected her to be home by noon as usual, but she was late this Sunday. Right around noon, my son was crying while I was on the phone with someone and couldn’t get off. I was getting frustrated. Thirty minutes later, my wife comes in the door. I glared and snapped, “Where have you been?”

After 12 Years Of Quarterly Church Attendance, Parents Shocked By Daughter's Lack Of Faith | The Babylon Bee

Fullerton, CA—Local father Trevor Michelson, 48, and his wife Kerri, 45, are reeling after discovering that after 12 years of steadily taking their daughter Janie to church every Sunday they didn’t have a more pressing sporting commitment—which was at least once every three months—she no longer demonstrates the strong quarterly commitment to the faith they raised her with, now that she is college-aged.

5 Things to Do When God Seems Distant

God honors and often uplifts the quietly faithful, and what's more: He often comes in the quiet. When God tells Elijah to wait before Him on the mountaintop, we witness something remarkable: God doesn't show up where we think He'd appear. He's not in the snapping windstorm, or the earthquake or the blaze. Elijah can't find God's voice in any of them. Then comes a gentle whisper, and it is so divinely flooded that Elijah covers his face with his cloak.

Let’s Not Give ISIS What It Wants

AC Hanbury makes a compelling Biblical argument about responding to ISIL in purposeful Love and allowing God to recompense injustice. HOWEVER, the author mixes together the 'desirable' response of two distinct and inherently conflictual spheres: the secular 'body politic' of the West, and the Body of Christ. In the West, the 'body politic' is clearly living in the 'Post-Christian Era', where situational ethics and humanistic morality are the ethos of law, praxis and politic. The Body of Christ, much like the early Christians to which the Epistles are written (living under a military occupation governed by brutal polytheists who held to humanistic laws and practices) now live in a similar era and follow a different ethic while being 'mixed in' with the secular world. How, then, do we expect a post-Christian society to act Christianly? How does Western secular society find the moral ground to respond to ISIL? How does a morally pluralistic culture function with a counter-intuitive moral imperative? The only people who can and will respond Biblically are those of the Church, the Ekklesia.

Selfies and Polaroids of Intimacy

If there is a current animating Warhol’s work, it is not sexual desire, not eros as we generally understand it, but rather desire for attention: the driving force of the modern age. What Warhol was looking at, what he was reproducing in paintings and sculptures and films and photographs, was simply whatever everyone else was looking at, be it celebrities or cans of soup or photographs of disasters, of people crushed beneath cars and flung into trees. In gazing at these things, in rollering them out over curtains of color, in reproducing them endlessly, what he was attempting to distil was the essence of attention itself, that elusive element that everyone hungers for. His study began with stars, with all those heavy-lidded, bee-stung divas, Jackie, Elvis, Marilyn, their faces vacant, stunned by camera lenses. But it didn’t end there. (243–244)

3 Reasons Why Religious Liberty Laws Don’t Discriminate

Opponents reference “Jim Crow” laws as a comparison to paint religious liberty in a negative light. But this is a false analogy. Jim Crow laws required segregation and unjust discrimination in spite of a business owner’s convictions. If, for example, a business owner didn’t want to discriminate against an African American, Jim Crow laws required such discrimination. These laws actually violated conscience. That is not what is happening in the situations involving bakers, florists, and photographers who refuse to participate in same-sex weddings. No one or no law is requiring any baker, florist, or photographer to decline their services to LGBT persons. All that religious freedom laws ask is that a handful of religious business owners not be legally coerced into using their creative talents in service of something they find morally or religiously objectionable.

What Christian Parents Can Learn from Atheist Churches.

True to this rebranding effort, the “ Frequently Asked Questions ” page on the Sunday Assembly’s website attempts to distance the organization from a strict atheist association. In response to the question, “Is Sunday Assembly exclusively for atheists?” they say, “Absolutely not. We say in the Charter that we don’t do supernatural but we won’t tell you you’re wrong if you do. One of the unique things about Sunday Assembly is that it is radically inclusive–allowing us to celebrate life together, regardless of what we believe in.” They go on in other answers to discourage using their group as a vehicle for presenting atheist philosophy or for telling others that they’re wrong for what they believe.

Temptation is a disorienting, defiling experience when evil is presented to us as good. Destruction comes dressed up to look like happiness. Sin only occurs when we believe that the destructive lie can actually grant happiness.

Batman V. Superman: A Sign of the Cultures Theological Condition -

The most recent example of this can be seen in the movie Batman v. Superman. In the film, Superman is portrayed as type of God-like being. The people of Earth see Superman not just as a “super-man,” but as a being with God-like powers, who can be anywhere, anytime, and do anything. This realization led many to wonder what moral obligations does a being like Super-Man have? Is an all-powerful being subject to any law? Other characters, such as Lex Luthor, the intellectual villain who recognizes that superman is not a God because God doesn’t exist for Luthor. He argues that if God were all-powerful, then God could not be all-good; conversely, if he were all-good, then he could not be all-powerful.

The Absurdity of Unbelief: A Worldview Apologetic of the Christian Faith - Kindle edition by Jeffrey D. Johnson. Religion & Spirituality Kindle eBooks @

The Bible doesn’t merely state the atheist’s creed. It also provides us with an assessment of that creed: “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’” (Psalm 14:1). In his new book The Absurdity of Unbelief, Jeffrey Johnson ably demonstrates that the Scripture writer isn’t hurling insults or engaging in ad hominem. Rather, as Johnson shows, the Bible is simply telling the truth. To reject the triune God of Scripture and to replace him with a non-biblical worldview is profoundly stupid! How does Johnson defend this thesis (and biblical claim)? First, he argues that human beliefs are not neutral but are in certain ways biased and preconditioned. Next, Johnson proceeds, by means of reductio ad absurdum, to expose the irrationality of the world’s major non-biblical philosophies and unbiblical religions. Finally, Johnson carefully sets forth the arguments and lays out the evidence for the veracity of Christianity, and he concludes with an earnest and humble appeal to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ, which alone can restore true meaning to the world and wherein is found true wisdom from God.

Help Me Teach the Bible: Dick Lucas on What Makes an Excellent Teacher

Lucas was rector of  St. Helen’s Bishopsgate  from 1961 to 1998. In 1986, he founded the  Proclamation Trust to train men and women to correctly handle Scripture through prayerful study of the text in light of its context in both the biblical book and the Bible as a whole. Now in his early 90s, Lucas was a key figure along with John Stott and J. I. Packer in shaping the conservative evangelical movement in the UK during the 20th century. He still has an active and influential ministry, preaching and speaking at conferences and serving on the leadership team of the  Cornhill Training Course .

Putting Golf in Its Place

Expense . Clubs, balls, shoes, bag, apparel, greens fees, club dues, cart fees, and more. Golf is a rich man’s game, and it’s worth approaching this aspect of the sport with Christian conviction. We have been rescued from the world’s patterns of wealth by a Savior who guides us not to lay up treasures on earth (Matthew 6:19). We put our hope in God, “who richly provides us with everything to enjoy” (1 Timothy 6:17), and tells us the enjoyment is richest not when it’s hoarded, but used to bless others — “to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life” (1 Timothy 6:18–19).

Jesus Christ calls every person to follow him. As Christians it’s our duty and joy to share that invitation. That’s why the Archbishops of Canterbury and York are inviting every church in England to join a week of prayer this Pentecost, from 8-15th May — let’s pray for every Christian to receive new confidence and joy in sharing this life-transforming faith.

Why International Adoptions by Americans Have Hit a 35-Year Low

“I don’t expect international adoptions will ever be over 20,000 again, for a lot of reasons,” Mike Douris, president of Orphan Outreach, told CT. “They’ll always be a part of orphan care, but not the major thrust. I think domestic adoption and foster care in these countries is going to emerge and be a big growth over the foreseeable future.”

44 Is the Universe a Necessary Being? | Reasonable Faith

1. “ Could the fundamental fabric of space-time reality exist by the necessity of its own nature? ” Of course, the atheist could say that, but such a suggestion is, I think, unscientific and implausible. Spacetime seems to be contingent in its properties, and different models of the universe feature different spacetime structures. For example, some have a beginning and some don’t; some extend forever and some come to an end. Hawking recognizes that his proposed model is just one of many possible spacetimes. So our spacetime is plausibly not a necessary being.

Primary Soul Care in an Urgent Care Culture

Blogs and sermon podcasts and articles are necessary helps, but must remain in their proper place—as secondary, not primary, pastoral care providers. For primary pastoral care to remain alive and well, two equally challenging roles must be met. Shepherds must position themselves to care for their flocks, and sheep must position themselves to be led. The local body of Christ is God’s primary place of soul care.

A Real Attorney Weighs In: How Realistic are the Cases in God's Not Dead 2? -

God’s Not Dead 2 tells the story of a public school teacher, “Grace Wesley” (played by Melissa Joan Hart), whose Christian faith and career come under attack after she answers a student’s question about Jesus in class. A zealous civil liberties group files suit, looking to make an example of her in its quest to remove God from public discourse. If the story has a “ripped from the headlines” feel, it’s for good reason: More than twenty-five court cases involving Christians who were sued for expressing their faith in public settings are cited in the film’s credits as an example of the controversies occurring every day on the subject. Most of those cases were handled in court by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).
