Spirit-Filled Jesus by Mark Driscoll coming soon.

Most importantly, Pastor Mark is a family man. In 1988, when Pastor Mark was a 17-year-old high school student, a young woman named Grace gave him a nice Bible. Mark, a non-practicing Catholic at the time, was born again reading that Bible in college. He and Grace were married at the age of 21, graduated at 22, and planted a church at 25 in the living room of their home, while both working full time jobs. At the age of 26 they welcomed their first child, Ashley, and today have three sons and two daughters. The Driscoll kids are all walking with Jesus and helped plant The Trinity Church in Scottsdale, Arizona as a family ministry.

Psalm 1:1: How to Lose Your Happiness

Those who say they want to be happy while they still indulge in sin do not really want to be happy.

The Resurrection Answers Three Big Questions

“The resurrection of Jesus Christ is either one of the most wicked, vicious, heartless hoaxes ever foisted on the minds of human beings—or it is the most remarkable fact of history.” My father has often shared these words to me in person, and he’s written them in his books. The older I get, the more I realize they’re unmistakably true. There’s no middle ground with the resurrection of Jesus. Either it is a colossal fabrication or the most important event in history.

people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. Is the Wrath of God Really Satisfying?

Jesus has come to ransom others (e.g., Mark 10:45). His suffering is not merely physical (Matt. 26:38), as his intimate union with humanity makes him deeply aware of their sin and its consequences. His death was “the righteous for the unrighteous” (1 Pet. 3:18). He came “in the likeness of sinful flesh” to be a “sin offering” and to “condemn sin in the flesh” (Rom. 8:3). He redeemed us from the curse of the law by “becoming a curse for us” in his death (Gal. 3:13). We are “saved from God’s wrath” by Christ (Rom. 5:9; 1 Thess. 1:10). The one who was sinless (e.g., Heb. 4:15) and who “had no sin” became “a sin offering” (not a sinner) on our behalf (2 Cor. 5:21). Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, “‘bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness” (1 Pet. 2:24; compare Isa. 53:5–6).

JESUS: Savior, Lord, and Friend: Getting to Know the Power and Love of Christ (Devotional Apologetics) - Kindle edition by Mike Robinson. Religion & Spirituality Kindle eBooks @

This devotional, written by Mike Robinson, includes the details, truths and principles of the Christian religion. As I followed through his explanations and reasons on why the many people in the world follow this religion, I found myself agreeing and even learning new information on the Bible, Christ and ways to improve my relationship with God. Within each chapter he breaks into different sub points along with information provided in his sub points, Robinson backs his statements with various scripture from the Bible but does not stop there. He quotes other authors, some of whom are recognizable such as C. S. Lewis, and includes sayings that are understandable. Along with quotes and verses, He tells stories of moments that occurred throughout his life. For example, he tells the story early on in his book about a girl who was selling lemonade but had no buyers. The story continues with Robinson buying all the lemonade so that the girl made money and it was a super hot day. This shows a perfect example of God's work to make a young girl happy. He also includes stories of people who have influenced him and can inspire others.

Does Heaven Have Suburbs?

When Rutherford uses the phrase “the suburbs of heaven,” therefore, he is not speaking politically or even missionally; he is speaking geographically. He is talking about proximity. Those who live in the suburbs are those who live as close to the city as they can get without actually being in the city. That is Rutherford’s point. When you and I “live in Christ,” there is, as he next says, “but a thin wall between [us] and the land of praises.” When we “live in Christ,” we place ourselves just outside heaven’s gates. We are as close to heaven as we can get without actually being there. We are in the suburbs. And in the suburbs, we experience something of the “fullness of joy” and the “pleasures forevermore” that Psalm 16:11 talks about. To be sure, we do not experience them perfectly. That reality is reserved exclusively for heaven. But you and I can get close, and we can experience genuine joy and real and lasting pleasure in this life. And when we do, we are in the “suburbs of heaven.”

Heaven changes everything about how you live today. If you’re headed to Heaven (and after yesterday’s devotional, I hope you are), then that reality should impact how you live here on Earth.

Google Pays Respect To Jesus's Empty Tomb With Empty Homepage

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA—While Christians have often complained of bias in the selection of which days Google honors with its “Google Doodles,” believers around the country were reportedly ecstatic to find that the search and advertising giant chose to honor the empty tomb of Jesus on Easter morning with an empty homepage.

Why Jesus Rose

“Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ And they remembered His words.” Luke 24:1-8

Special Needs Kids Don’t Need Special Parents

Well-intended friends must have shared the same uninformed understanding because they attempted to encourage with, “It takes a special person to raise a special needs child.” Only I didn’t volunteer for this—I had been drafted. The likes of me would never sign up for such a gig, much less qualify. Perhaps that was the point. God was surely playing some cosmic joke with this epic mismatch of child to parent. It seemed a cruel irony to pair a vulnerable, delicate child with a reckless mother like me. I wasn’t comfortable around disabled people. I avoided making eye contact. I’m irresponsible and lack empathy. I’m shallow, self-centered, and lazy. “You’ve got the wrong person,” I thought. “Lord, please pick someone else.”

What About Polygamy in the Bible?

The only direct command against polygamy is given to the kings that were to rule Israel, as they are told not to “ multiply wives ” to themselves ( Deuteronomy 17:17 ). It is also interesting to note that polygamous relationships seem to be regulated in the commands Moses gave to the nation of Israel. Leviticus 18:18 instructs that a man should not marry sisters, and Deuteronomy 21:15 talks of assigning an heir to a man with two wives. Many commentators suggest that the passages do not endorse polygamy but rather prohibit it. Deuteronomy 21:15 may also be translated as “has had two wives” in succession rather than at the same time. The sisters in Leviticus 18:18 are understood by some to be any Israelite women. Regardless of the interpretation of these passages, the taking of multiple wives is not in accord with God’s design from the beginning.

How Christianity Makes Sense of This Gerber Baby | Cold Case Christianity

A recent Washington Post article celebrated the naming of Lucas Warren as the 2018 Gerber baby. Every year, the Gerber Products Company selects an infant “who best exemplifies Gerber’s long-standing heritage of recognizing that every baby is a Gerber baby.” What makes Lucas unusual and particularly news-worthy is the fact that he has Down syndrome . Lucas is the first such baby to be selected for the honor, and he’s a welcome reminder of the importance of a Christian worldview. In fact, Lucas’ very existence represents the triumph of Christianity in shaping our view of human dignity and identity.

Jesus Will Not Leave You Alone

Lord Jesus, forgive me for my shortsightedness and for how often I sinfully prefer my earthly comfort over the comfort of my holiness. Forgive me for the smallness of my faith. Despite what my flesh craves, my spirit craves your will for me more. I want to share your holiness and bear the peaceful fruit of righteousness. So, do whatever it takes until you have completed your good work in me. For I want more than anything to trust in you in all things at all times. Please, Lord, whatever you do, do not leave me alone! I pray this in your name and for the sake of your glory. Amen.

Why Doesn't the Oldest Gospel Include the Resurrection?

This was a question I was asked on Twitter a few days ago. It included a bunch of other stuff, but that was the main gist. I very rarely answer critiques on Twitter. People on Twitter are seldom interested in an answer. Usually, they just want someone with whom to spar. I’m not really the intellectual “sparring type,” or at least I don’t get pleasure out of it like some people. I’ll have people throw out statements like the one above, coupled with things like “Christianity is 100% speculation!” (That’s how I know it isn’t a “serious” question.) Like I said, I usually ignore it. I’m rarely in the mood to spar. BUT, sometimes I am.

Is There Evidence for Easter? A Scientist's List

Mass is energy. Time slows with gravity and acceleration. The earth moves around the sun at 67,000 miles per hour. Two black holes merged 1.3 billion years ago, sending gravitational waves through space that arrived last year at LIGO. In principle, this is all reproducible, but just in principle. If we personally verified and reproduced every experiment ourselves, science would grind to a complete halt.  Yes, we emphasize evidence.  But we usually trust the scientific consensus. Yes, we are skeptical and regularly challenge accepted theories. But we usually trust other scientists’ reports of what they have seen.

No Ocean Big Enough: The Beauty of God in the World He Made – John Piper

When we look at oceans or mountains, whales or bears, fields or deserts, God wants us to see the beauty, power, and wisdom in his creation and think, “What must God be like!” He wants us to ride the waves he has made into worship, and climb the mountains he built to see more of him. The sermon clip is from a message John Piper preached on Sunday, February 8, 1987 entitled, “The Pleasure of God in His Creation.” Read or listen to the entire message at --- Transcript --- What a God. What power! Why did he lavish such a universe upon a creature like us? Why isn’t that overdoing it! What a universe! And what a God. God rejoices in the works of creation because they point us beyond themselves to God. God does mean for us to be stunned and awed by his creation, but not for its own sake. He means for us to say, “If the work of God’s hands is so abundant with power, and wisdom, and majesty, and grandeur, and beauty, what must God be like? What must the Creator be like, if the flinging out of his fingers is so majestic and grand and great and glorious? In the end, it’s not going to be the seas.

How Do I Know the Bible Is True?

An atmosphere where children feel they are being heard and understood is vital. It’s sometimes difficult to answer questions without getting defensive or emotional, but asking questions isn’t wrong. We may not always know the answers, but we can provide Biblebased resources. Apologetics books or a visit to the Creation Museum, for example, can help children discover that Scripture is the trustworthy foundation for understanding all of life. On occasion we also share how God has answered prayers. So we encourage questions, and we listen.
