BREAKING: The Daily Wire Editorial Board Endorses Donald J. Trump For President

Today, the editorial board of The Daily Wire endorses Donald J. Trump for president.

We have been convinced by long months of persuasive argument from Trump’s supporters, including informing us that we are the sort of conservatives who enjoy watching our wives have sex with other men, telling us that we are social justice warriors for defending women from smears, and reminding us that we are shekelmasters in the pay of Big Oil Cruz Supporters™.

Andrew W.K. Is Founding a New Political Party

If you're sick and tired of this broken two-party system, singer-songwriter Andrew W.K. is asking for your support to establish a new political party. Not one established on the dogma and rhetoric of the Republican or Democratic party, but one that transcends both: The Party Party. It's time to restore our faith in the political process and bring people together. And what brings people together better than partying hard? That's right, nothing. And for those of you who chock this up to April foolery, you're the only April fool around here, because Andrew W.K. is claiming that this is absolutely real: At best, bi-partisan politics has created an insurmountable divide that has separated the people into two categories of Democrat and Republican. The Party Party aims to provide an alternative to the divisive labeling of our current system. Most people have become too caught up in the bickering of our news cycles to realize that we ultimately desire the exact same things: reliable access to education, healthcare, and a sense of social equality. If enough people are willing to liberate themselves from choosing left or right, a third voice can emerge with a much more powerful message. A message that will open the eyes of our representatives and help them see that this “Us versus Them” mentality has kept our country from providing its people with a REAL sense of freedom. If we open our hearts and approach the problems we face with an open mind, real change can be achieved. We hope you will join us on this journey. These are real-world solutions for real-world issues.

Game-Changer: Google’s Actual Reality ‘Cardboard Plastic’ Headset Is Here

Like every April 1, Google has once again just rolled out their next big product release, and this one is a game-changer, folks. As consumers prepare for the virtual reality revolution—with products like the Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard—the tech giant has released the most revolutionary development yet: “The Cardboard Plastic.” What’s realer than real? Probably nothing.

Is Islam a Religion of Peace?

Well, it’s a polarized response. You have two responses I’m seeing in America: You have the people saying, “Islam is a religion of peace. All Muslims are peaceful, loving people. ISIS and the like are hijacking Islam and not representative of Muslims.” I like that response in that it’s compassionate, but I don’t like how it ignores some of the truth. On the other side of the equation, you have people who are saying, “Islam is a violent religion, therefore all Muslims are all threats, therefore let’s keep them out of the country.” That’s a problematic response. It’s completely uncompassionate. It doesn’t distinguish between people and a belief system. But it does at least deal with the truth about Islam. So the title of my book, Answering Jihad: The Better Way Forward , the better way forward is embracing both truth and compassion, truth about Islam but compassion for Muslims.

How the Gospel Frees Us From the American Dream

The first situation and insight that Ms. Rojas relates--her friend who left a ministry for "corporate America" so she could "bring oceans to deserts"--calls to mind a helpful distinction I heard, maybe a decade age or more, on a radio broadcast of some church service. The pastor/preacher was encouraging the majority of his congregation not to see working or volunteering for the church as "more holy" than "secular" jobs and activities. Instead, he called on them to know the difference between doing "church work" and "the work of the church." The preacher's message was that this second kind of work, a different way of saying, "Bring oceans to deserts," is the way the vast majority of Christians serve the Lord, and please him. "God calls most of us not to do 'church work' but to live out our holiness by doing 'the work of the church.'"

Why We All Need to Stop Freaking Out About This Election

When religious leaders claim God values “moral” behavior above all else, they’re not talking about the God of the Bible. What’s at the top of the biblical God’s priority list is changed hearts. Thing is, changed hearts can’t be forced. Jesus focused on exactly that in his most famous sermon. (It’s called “The Sermon on the Mount” and you can read it in Matthew 5-7.) In example after example, Jesus shows how every behavior and habit and action has its genesis in the human heart.

Sin Deceives You to Destroy You

Peter uses the same language in 1 Peter 1:14, “Do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance.” Same word, “the desires of your former ignorance.” They are desires that are in sync with lies. Paul calls them “deceitful desires” in Ephesians 4:22. A deceitful desire is a desire that’s lying to you. What is it saying to you? It’s saying that if you steal, or if you look at pornography, or if you’re mean and get the last word today at work, you’d be happier. Life would be better.

Introduction I greatly enjoy watching superhero movies.  Whether it is Spider-man battling Doc Ock or Batman struggling to stop the Joker from waging war on Gotham, these films are greatly entertaining and tell us much about our culture. However, there are times in these films when a series of threats arise that are too powerful for just one hero to fight.  In these situations, various heroes with unique talents and abilities must be assembled to face the assorted dangers. Most would agree that we are in a culture war.  The battles being waged are both within the church and without.  How do we communicate the truth of the gospel to a post-modern world?  How do we motivate fellow believers to engage in apologetics? How can one thoughtfully respond to the increasingly hostile attacks aimed at the Bible?  How do we discuss our Christian convictions with those who hold different religious views? In A New Kind of Apologist , Sean McDowell takes on the role of Nic Fury and assembles some of the finest thinkers and apologists writing and speaking today to address some of the most critical issues facing the church.

Discipleship in the Age of the Spectacle

Don’t get me wrong: Disciples need vigorous imaginations. I believe Scripture sets our imaginations free from the culture of spectacle so that we can see the world as it truly is: a good but fallen creation in which God’s kingdom is advancing in mysterious and often quite unspectacular ways. Jesus was able to convey this with simple stories: parables. What’s striking about the parables is not the special effects but the extraordinary in the ordinary. The Christian imagination is not distracted by superficial surface images (spectacle) but penetrates to the depth dimension of things. No computer-generated special effects come close to doing justice to what Paul sets out in Ephesians 1: God’s plan to unite all things in Christ (Ephesians 1:10). Can you imagine that ?

The World Can’t Ignore What’s Happening in South Sudan

Bottom line Relevant: No one is talking about it because the Sudan is not a "Western" country and it's a "white" country. Whatever those two things mean in the minds of people. Take for example the terrorist attacks in France last November; we (America) were with France because they're Western and white in our minds. Although France is actually pretty diverse. Same with Brussels, even though just 9 days before Brussels, there was a terror attack in Turkey that no one heard about. Then after that one in Pakistan that took more than 48 hours to hit the media cycle. There's already been over 2,500 people who've died in 2016 only due to terrorist violence but in the U.S. we tend to only care if it's a "Western/White" country...if it's in the Middle East, Africa, or somewhere like that....well...who cares. But if Europe gets hit and it's a popular tourist destination then we'll all change our Facebook profile pictures and mourn for about 24-48 hours saying how horrible it is. And I'm just talking about terror I'm not even touching on what the article is discussing. In America we lose 5,000 troops in a 10 year war and our country is up in arms screaming about the whole thing.

Cold-Case Christianity: A Homicide Detective Investigates the Claims of the Gospels - Kindle edition by J. Warner Wallace, Lee Strobel. Religion & Spirituality Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.

J. Warner Wallace - the author of Cold Case Christianity - structures his book around the basic conceit of adopting the role of a detective in order to apply the same critical and logical tools to the claims of Christianity as a detective might use to investigate a "cold case" file. Since Wallace actually is a cold case detective, and since he reasons and communicates very clearly, this device works incredibly well. He begins every chapter by analogizing the subject of the chapter - whether it is deciding whether to trust circumstantial evidence or examining a chain of custody - to some story from his detective career and then extending the principles he has learned from pragmatic experience to the more rarified air of history. Warner's approach in this book suggests that his greatest gift is the practice of "common sense." "Common sense" not meaning "someone who agrees with the popular prejudices and attitudes of his culture," but "common sense" meaning "practical reasoning," namely approaching a practical, intellectual problem in a pragmatic, non-biased, logical way grounded in lived experience.

Lewis’s booming voice competed with Hitler’s bombs for the attention of the British people. Oxford was one of the few places Hitler didn’t blast. You’re ‘More than a Conquerer’—But What Does that Mean?

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 8:31–39)

5 Guidelines For Excellent Guest Follow-up

As I’ve written about before regarding your website’s call to action , it’s extremely important to ask for a specific response from people, and this includes your church’s followup procedure. This could be made easy by having them check a box if they’re interested in joining a midweek study, or serving, or another church group as they give their information so you have a specific thing to tell them about. Otherwise, you need to decide what your default is going to be. Will you be encouraging people to come back next Sunday, to join a group, or something else within your church? If you leave your followup open ended, most people will let the conversation drop off there and you’ll never hear from them again. However, this is your opportunity to help guide them to what their next step should be.

35 Fact-Checking Reza Aslan 1: "Love Your Neighbor as Yourself" (David Wood)

http://www.acts17.net In his book "Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth," creative writing professor Reza Aslan claims that the Jewish command to "Love your neighbor as yourself" only applied to one's fellow Jews, and that Jews were ordered to expel foreigners from the land of Israel. Aslan writes: "When it came to the heart and soul of the Jewish faith—the Law of Moses—Jesus was adamant that his mission was not to abolish the law but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17 ). That law made a clear distinction between relations among Jews and relations between Jews and foreigners. The oft-repeated commandment to 'love your neighbor as yourself' was not Jesus’s invention. It comes directly from the Torah and is meant to be applied strictly in the context of internal relations within Israel. The verse in question reads: 'You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself' (Leviticus 19:18 ). To the Israelites, as well as to Jesus's community in first-century Palestine, 'neighbor' meant one’s fellow Jews, whether friend or foe.

Tasks For Senior Pastors Between Easter And Mother’s Day

Now is the time to prepare for in-depth study, not when you’re in the throws of it. By then it’s too late to order a commentary for a message that needs to be written in four days. Following Easter through Mother’s Day is the time for you to take stock of the king’s armory, to use Old Testament biblical language. I always keep my commentaries four deep in New Testament books and I’m working towards being four deep in the Old Testament. The minor prophets are my weakest area now.

How do You Talk to Teenagers about Homosexuality? Interview with author Tom Gilson

As for questions they do face, the hardest one has to be the one about the teen’s own sexuality: “Mom and dad, I think I might be same-sex attracted.” My thought on that is that, once again, that the parents need to get up to speed on their own convictions, through reading my book or the one you wrote with John Stonestreet, Sean. But they also need to know that even after reading those books, they still won’t really know what to do, and they should find help from someone who does. That’s when it’s time to seek out an experienced counselor nearby, someone who has godly, biblical values and a solid mix of truth and grace, who can help them and their teen work through this challenge.

Doubting Toward Faith: The Journey to Confident Christianity: Bobby Conway, Sean McDowell: 9780736963541: Amazon.com: Books

No question that the modern age in which we find ourselves can make spiritual life a minefield. It can be difficult to maintain a confident faith given the volume and rate of mis-information coming at us, the scientific advances attempting to explain away the need for God, and the head on collision that is happening with Christian moral values and secular society. The good news is the advice and strategies found in this book, Doubting Toward Faith, couldn't come at a better time. The honest truth is everyone has doubts in life, but for the Christian it's what we do with our doubts that will either make us or break us. As Bobby writes, doubt is not stationary and is on the move so the outcome can either be doubting toward faith or doubting toward unbelief. In other words, doubts can either work for our good and strengthen and deepen our dependence on God or conversely leave us wallowing in a place of confusion and hopelessness if left unanswered. If you have ever experienced doubt before (and we all have) you'll feel a personal connection with Bobby as he takes you on a journey through his life experience in dealing with doubt and remaining victorious.

Worship: Our Response to His Greatness

O, how we need God’s help to do this. We would love to do this on our own, to just sit down and focus, but the reality is, we need God’s help. And to do this focusing, we must begin with prayer — asking for God’s help. But such prayer doesn’t begin when we enter into the corporate gathering for worship; it is an overflow of the prayers we have been praying throughout the week. In fact, corporate worship is an overflow of our worship as all of life (Romans 12:1–2). Yet we need to stop and recognize that corporate worship is bound by time and place, so the gathered people need to focus together, to pray together, to sing together, to listen to God’s voice together in his word, and to respond together.

The Theology of Ted Cruz

Cruz came of age—as a Christian and an American-- during the height of the Religious Right’s power. During his sermon at Community Bible Church, he told an inspiring story of God’s work in his family. The personal testimony of Cruz’s father, Rafael, who is now an itinerant preacher and spiritual adviser to his son’s presidential campaign, demonstrates the power of the gospel to change the trajectory of a human life and reunite a family broken by alcohol abuse. Because God saved Rafael Cruz, Ted Cruz was raised in an evangelical subculture. He grew up studying the Bible and was taught to integrate faith and learning at Second Baptist School in Houston.

45 Therefore, Go by Tim Keesee | April 2, 2016

Tim Keesee discusses the implications of the Great Commission for all Christians, especially as it pertains to making disciples around the world.

46 Renewing Your Mind | The Great Commission | April 1, 2016

The Great Commission is a call to the church to be the church and to do the work of the church by making disciples of all nations. And we must remember that Jesus never called it "the Great Commission." It is indeed a great commission, but it is a beautifully ordinary commission that we have the great privilege of fulfilling in part as we gather together with every tribe, tongue, and nation to worship with our families every Lord's Day. Then we partake of and bear witness to the ordinary means of grace in the building up of the church in the preaching of the Word, growing as disciples and learning from the Scriptures to observe all that Jesus commanded. Then we enjoy the communion of the saints in communion with God in prayer, observe baptism in the name of our triune God, and partake regularly of the Supper that our Lord provides at His table. This is the extraordinarily great and greatly ordinary work of the church as we go, send, and make disciple-making disciples of all nations, just as we see the early church being faithful to the fullness of the Great Commission (Acts 2:42–47).

What Is True Love?

“ All you need is love.” So sang the Beatles. If they’d been singing about God’s love, the statement would have a grain of truth in it. But what usually goes by the name love in popular culture is not authentic love at all; it’s a deadly fraud. Far from being “all you need,” it’s something you desperately need to avoid.

Keller and Carson on When They Experienced Revival

Keller was converted in 1970 at a central Pennsylvanian college where the InterVarsity chapter experienced an unprecedented “awakening” that they soon realized was occurring on other campuses throughout the region. Likewise, Carson witnessed “a singular movement of the Lord” while pastoring in Canada around the same time. Almost two decades later, Keller witnesed in his first couple of years at Redeemer Presyberian Church (1990–91) a reminder of what he experienced in college. “We grew to almost 1,000 people in about two years in the middle of Manhattan at a time when people were leaving the city because of a recession and high crime.”

50
Why Don’t We Punish Women Who Have Abortions?

[T[he almost uniform state policy before Roe was that abortion laws targeted abortionists, not women. Abortion laws targeted those who performed abortion, not women. In fact, the states expressly treated women as the second “victim” of abortion; state courts expressly called the woman a second “victim.” Abortionists were the exclusive target of the law. [...] This political claim [that that women were jailed before  Roe  and would be jailed if  Roe  falls] is not an abstract question that is left to speculation—there is a long record of states treating women as the second victim of abortion in the law that can be found and read. To state the policy in legal terms, the states prosecuted the principal (the abortionist) and did not prosecute someone who might be considered an accomplice (the woman) in order to more effectively enforce the law against the principal. And that will most certainly be the state policy if the abortion issue is returned to the states.
