GOP Sen. Marco Rubio Declares He Will Run for President; Says He Is 'Uniquely Qualified,' Hillary Is 'Yesterday'

Following hot on the heels of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's announcement Sunday that she is seeking the Democratic nomination for president in 2016, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., dismissed her as a political dinosaur when he declared Monday that he is running for president and is "uniquely qualified" for the role.

What's Really Behind the Attacks on Religious Freedoms?

Without a doubt, we are in the midst of a massive cultural revolution, a significant downturn in faith and biblical morality, an attempt to cast off God and His standards. Yet so much of the church seems soundly asleep, content with lovely services and entertaining sermons.

3 Is My Argument for Jesus’ Resurrection Question-Begging?

I think that I am partially responsible for giving the appearance of begging the question by my employing the evidence for Jesus’ resurrection as an argument for theism (an argument, in effect, from miracles) in public debates over God’s existence. That is the argument referenced by Lataster. While the evidence for Jesus’ resurrection can be so presented, traditionally it is not part of natural theology but of Christian evidences. That is to say, it is not employed as a theistic argument, but as an argument for a Christian version of theism. Having proved the existence of God via the arguments of natural theology, such as the ontological, cosmological, and teleological arguments, one turns to specific evidence, such as Jesus’ resurrection, for this God’s having decisively revealed Himself in Jesus. This is the approach I use in my more considered work, such as Reasonable Faith, chapter 8. But in public debates I’ll often include the evidence for Jesus’ resurrection as part of a cumulative case for theism for evangelistic purposes: I want to defend, not mere theism, but Christian theism.

An Arcus news service? RNS denies LGBT money influences religion coverage

Washington D.C., Apr 1, 2015 / 05:22 pm (CNA) .- The editor of Religion News Service has denied that a grant from a wealthy LGBT advocacy funder has biased its coverage of traditional religion, which includes a recent controversial story on Cardinal Raymond Burke. The Arcus Foundation dispenses millions of dollars in grants every year to support LGBT activism. Its 2014 grants included $120,000 to the Religion Newswriters Foundation, the owner of the widely syndicated Religion News Service. The Arcus Foundation’s grant listing said the one year of support was intended “to recruit and equip LGBT supportive leaders and advocates to counter rejection and antagonism within traditionally conservative Christian churches.” The foundation’s Sept. 23, 2014 announcement said the grant aimed at “fostering a culture of LGBT understanding through the media” by funding the production of feature stories and blog posts “about religion and LGBT peoples of color.” Kevin Eckstrom, RNS editor-in-chief, told CNA that receiving money from the advocacy group did not influence editorial choices.

Why Are We So Afraid of Silence?

The silence we need is more than an absence of sound; it’s a break from constant stimulus and activity. It’s about allowing the tangled cords in our spirit and mind to unravel and be stilled. It’s about stopping the constant need to control our surroundings with our actions and words in a never-ending quest to drown out the unrest in our hearts. It’s about facing the dragon of emptiness, loneliness, frustration, anger, hurt and need head on—and doing the soul-wrenching work of letting Jesus deal with it.

Five Ways to Cut to the Heart of Non-Christian Ideas

W hile I was reading Nancy Pearcey’s new book, Finding Truth , a professor at the state university where I teach circulated a news item about a politician seeking to alter the university’s goals. Instead of facilitating “the search for truth,” the university under this plan would commit itself to meeting “the state’s work-force needs.” I remarked to this professor and other colleagues that many academics had already eliminated “the search for truth.” In the ensuing e-mail conversation, several professors rejected the idea that there is any universal truth, and one professor even described the whole concept of a “search for truth” as incoherent.

Jesus' tomb story: Does the evidence add up? - CNN.com

Becoming

Heraclitus and Alfred North Whitehead (taking his lead from Hegel) argued that becoming or process is ontologically deeper than being. All is Flux, cried Heraclitus. Becoming defines most everything, cried Whitehead. But there is no becoming without beings which are changed. For example, I remain a stable identity even as my qualities change: I gain weight, lose hair, and cut my fingernails. Heraclitus hinted at something beyond change, which he called The Logos. While Whitehead believed that God changes as he evolves with the cosmos, his primordial nature did not change.

But I often find myself going to the app during church since I’m not often lugging my Study Bible around. I have YouVersion also, which I sometimes use to compare versions. However, the ESV app is fast and friendly. You can scroll from one chapter right into the next without hitting the “next” button and waiting for it to load.

There was a blip as the second video in his set never played, but no one noticed since his energy remained unaffected. He also had remarkable breath control hitting every lyric while rapping fast. He certainly has a promising future as both a performer and artist overall, as he proved why he's a buzzworthy rapper that rubs elbows with legendary hip-hop radio personalities like Sway Calloway.

The thought of walking, sitting, and eating with Jesus brings Christians great joy, and His physical absence leaves us longing to be in His presence. As wonderful as this thought and longing is, we should not neglect the truth that Jesus has sent another helper. The Holy Spirit, the comforter, teacher, advocate, and homemaker, dwells within God’s people and illuminates their hearts with the fullness of Christ. We see Christ clearly now because His companion, His Spirit, resides within us.

Political Straight Talk About Religious Liberty

Your source misses out the main thing that American Christians of a somewhat traditional bent are not understanding, which is that the secularist movement that supports gay ‘rights’ has as its goal the destruction of any kind of traditional Christianity at all. Gay rights are no doubt sincerely supported by this movement, but they are promoted in part as effective tools to attack and eradicate such Christianity. It is not as if the pages of Salon and such like outlets are shy about how they hate traditional Christianity, so it is hard to understand why this is not grasped. Obviously same sex marriage is a beginning and not an end; once it is declared constitutional, teaching children that it is legitimate and that homosexual activity is morally fine will be made compulsory and will be universally implemented, and teaching that marriage is between men and women and that sodomy is a sin will be made illegal. This is just what has happened where same sex marriage has been legalised, and it is a powerful tool for eradicating traditional Christianity.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world..."

Quite simply, the message of John 3:16 is the most important one you'll ever hear.  It's a message of God's love for all people.  It's the message of hope found in Jesus Christ, God's only Son who was sent into the world to save us from our sins.  Why do we need saving?  The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."  We've all been guilty of breaking God's law, and our sin (law-breaking) separates us from Him.

Renewing Your Mind | The Source of Full Assurance | April 13, 2015

In last month’s studies, we spent time in Romans 3 and 4, where Paul unpacks the glories of the Gospel and shows that justification by faith in Christ has always been God’s way of salvation. Now, as we venture into chapter 5, Paul opens with the words “Therefore, having been justified by faith …,” a clear indication that he is about to present a conclusion or some implication of the Gospel. Indeed, as Dr. James M. Boice notes in his Romans commentary, many scholars see Romans 5:1–11 as focused on the “fruits of justification,” after which Paul changes course to deal with the similarities of Jesus and Adam and with sanctification before returning to focus on yet another fruit, assurance, at the end of chapter 8. But Boice prefers a more consistent view, seeing 5:1–11 as “the beginning of a well-developed statement of the security in Christ that comes to a believer as a result of his or her justification.” In other words, he believes everything Paul says from 5:1 to 8:39 is designed, as Dr. D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones writes, “to show us the absolute character, the fullness, and the finality of the salvation which comes to us … as the result of justification by faith.

Another Chance to Be Afraid—and Trust God

Jesus’ command, “Do not be afraid,” is one of the hardest for me to obey. I find great comfort in Psalm 56:3, “When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.” David didn’t say, “I put my trust in you and never felt afraid again.” He didn’t say, “I never feel afraid because my trust in you is so perfect.” He didn’t deny his fear or ignore it. He faced it, called it fear, and turned back to trust in God.

Faithful Thinkers: The Advantages of Hypocrisy

Contradiction in Hypocrisy One of the objections to Christianity that I hear quite often doesn't really come as a challenge to the traditional arguments for God's existence or Jesus' resurrection. It, instead, makes an observation about the followers of Christ and draws a conclusion about the truth of their beliefs based on how well they follow what they say they believe. This is the problem of hypocrisy in the Church. Many unbelievers look at Christians and see that we all are not perfect and that we sin, quite often, in fact. What gets people is that if someone believes something, then they should be acting like they believe it. They think that if someone's actions are not perfectly in line with what they say they believe, then they don't really believe it. "If someone who says they believe something doesn't actually believe it, then why should I believe it?" I like how Ravi Zacharias describes this in his book, The Grand Weaver . Zacharias points out that such hypocrisy creates a contradiction in the life of the Christian (Chapter 4). The unbeliever sees this contradiction, and knowing that contradictions are not a part of reality, they may then reject the worldview of the Christian.

They Will Know You Are Conference Christians By Your Porn?

In no way is this an endorsement of sin. In no way is this an endorsement of porn. But if my witness for Christ is banking on me than it was hurt before I even started my day. My witness is about telling people about Jesus. If the success of Christianity is based on how “better I am at living my life” then Christianity is a failure. The success of Christianity is based on how well Jesus lived His life and that He offers His life to sinners. That is our story. Jesus. Not us. This makes me sad, but it is not a shock to me that Christians are sinners to. The shock is when we Christians believe that we are pulling off this Jesus thing off. Let us forever be a people who point to our need for Christ. Jesus is not grossed out by our mud. As a matter of fact, muddy people are the exact kind of folks He came for. I wrote about being a witness here https://zackjamescole.wordpress.com/2015/04/07/whac-a-mole-episode-1-can-i-get-a-witness/ …I hope it helps….I pray for everyone and I pray that you stand in awe of Christ and that God’s grace will overwhelm and capture you.
