Lecrae's New Song 'The River of Jordan' Explores Losing Religion and Finding God

Atlantic Records just released a song from Lecrae off the soundtrack of the upcoming film adaptation of The Shack. The rapper collaborates with Breyan Isaac on "The River of Jordan," which ends up being an intimate track about the pressure off organized religion contrasted against the freedom of actually knowing God. The song's content can feel heavy, but it keeps hopeful twist. Here's how he concludes: I lost my religion but I found God Sounds odd but I’m better at seeing how far did I come from the dark is the nights to the light irregardless of all of my many flaws

The Problems With 'The Great Wall’ Are More Than Poor Ratings

On one hand, The Great Wall could usher in an age of greater diversity on the big screen. On the other, it’s likely that this movie is a first step towards greater censorship in both the U.S. and China, and could lead to the U.S. being more likely to overlook human rights violations.

Despite the discomfort and risks, the rewards of being known are incredible! Being known means we have someone to call at 2 a.m. when a crisis begins. The Biblical Mandate for Apologetics

“The trouble with most theologians is that they go down deeper, stay down longer and come up murkier than anyone else I know.” Apologetics is not about injecting a dose of confusion into the Christian Gospel to try and make it sound more profound. It is about communicating the profundity of the Gospel so that it removes the confusion surrounding it.

The Gospel of Chance the Rapper

Both the new believer and lifelong followers of Jesus can share the good news of Jesus Christ by sharing their story—including the times in life they ran from God. Too often, it is our tendency to try to tidy up our stories when sharing our faith; it is a vain attempt to show others a cleaned-up portrait of Christianity that simply isn’t true. The way Chance uses reminds us of the value of sharing our stories, telling others the ways in which we have hidden from God, and how we came to embrace “ faith of pumpkin seed-size mustard seed .”

10 A Contrite Repentance by R.C. Sproul | February 23, 2017

Do you have what is required for true biblical repentance? Repentance is essential, and not just repentance, but genuine repentance. Now that the ultimate sacrifice has been offered, what prevents us from genuine repentance today? In this message, Dr. Sproul discusses the essential posture of heart and mind for biblical repentance as he reminds us of the importance of “A Contrite Repentance.”

Milverton’s work was sly and subtle and sustained. Over many years his reach stretched out in a network of maids and valets and spies of any sort with access to letters or notes, or within proximity of undercover eavesdropping on the town blabbermouths. Milverton paid top dollar for dirt, and everyone knew it. If there was dirt to be had, he would have it at any price necessary. “Hundreds in this great city turn white at his name.” He was dirt-rich, and patently patient with his secrets. “He will hold a card back for years,” says Sherlock, “in order to play it at the moment when the stake is best worth winning.”

7 Reasons Every Christian Needs to Learn Apologetics Immediately

For every one person being evangelized into the Church, three are leaving. Unlike past generations that we polytheistic or indifferent and had never heard the Gospel, this generation has heard the Gospel and been trained from youth to reject it. They have been inoculated against Christ – given just enough of the Gospel to refute it, but not enough to be overcome by the presence of God. Apologetics trains you how to respond to a resistant generation. It addresses many reasonable questions that people have, while giving you the tools to recognize manipulations and unrelenting skepticism.

The Main and Plain Things of the Mormon and Christian Divide - Christian Research Institute

I would stick with those main points but there’s another point that will probably come up in the conversation very early on, and that is what is your authority? Because they’re going to point to the Book of Mormon as the most correct of any book on earth and the keystone to their religion, where you are going to point to the Bible as the most correct on any book on earth, and as a result of that you have a difference with respect to what you trust as an authority. The Book of Mormon fails the tests of reliability both from the standpoint of anthropology as well as archaeology, which is to say that the Book of Mormon is not a reliable source.

Are Mutations Part of the “Engine” of Evolution?

In the evolutionary model, mutations are hailed as a dominant mechanism for pond-scum-to-people evolution and provide “proof ” that the Bible’s history about creation is wrong. But are we to trust the ideas of imperfect, fallible men about how we came into existence, or should we believe the account of a perfect God who was an eyewitness to His creation? Let’s look at mutations in more detail and see if they provide the information necessary to support pond-scum-to-people evolution, or if they confirm God’s Word in Genesis.

1 Peter 5:8–9: Can Satan Devour Christians?

As you read the Word, remember the commandment of Jesus, reiterated by James, to be doers and not merely hearers of the Word (Matthew 7:24–27; James 1:22–25). Seldom does anyone wander into obedience. Often we must take time to not only digest what we have read, but to plan for how we can practically obey God’s will.

Is Jesus the Creator God?

That is, God the Father, whose voice was never heard, nor his shape seen by angels or men; for though Jacob, Moses, the elders of Israel, Manoah, and his wife, are said to see God, and Job expected to see him with his bodily eyes, and the saints will see him as he is, in which will lie their great happiness; yet all seems to be understood of the second person, who frequently appeared to the Old Testament saints, in an human form, and will be seen by the saints in heaven, in his real human nature; or of God in and by him: for the essence of God is invisible, and not to be seen with the eyes of the body; nor indeed with the eyes of the understanding, so as to comprehend it; nor immediately, but through, and by certain means: God is seen in the works of creation and providence, in the promises, and in his ordinances; but above all, in Christ the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person: this may chiefly intend here, man’s not knowing any thing of God in a spiritual and saving way, but in and by Christ 11

Pt. 4- Four Facts about the Fate of Jesus of Nazareth: Did Jesus Rise From the Dead?

In this series, we have been considering four facts about the fate of Jesus of Nazareth that the majority of NT historians accept. Specifically, we have been looking at the reasons the facts are so widely accepted. Fact 1 : After His crucifixion, Jesus was buried by Joseph of Arimathea in a tomb. Fact 2 : On the Sunday after the crucifixion, Jesus' tomb was found empty by a group of His women followers. Fact 3 : On multiple occasions, and under various circumstances, different individuals and groups saw Jesus alive after His death. This week, we consider Fact 4: The original disciples suddenly and sincerely came to believe Jesus was risen from the dead, despite having every disposition to the contrary. As philosopher and theologian William Lane Craig explains, "Consider the situation the disciples faced following Jesus' crucifixion: 1. Their leader was dead and Jewish messianic expectations did not expect a Messiah who, instead of triumphing over Israel's enemies, would be shamefully executed by them as a criminal. 2. According to OT law, Jesus' execution exposed Him as a heretic, a man accursed by God.

Feminism, Jesus and the Search for My Identity

In that moment, I felt like I was suddenly presented with two platters. On one was my feminism, a fight for equality, standing up on behalf of my gender and the entirety of my mental and emotional capacity. On the other was my knowledge of who I am in Christ, and my cross. After all, the apostle Paul writes to the Christian in Galatia, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you all are one in Christ Jesus” (3:28).

You're a Christian. Start Acting Like it Online

Facebook says they don’t keep “unfriending” statistics, so we don’t have quantitative data on how many social media friendships were ended over the course the last year or so. But qualitative data is all over the place. The 2016 election hit the internet like a steamroller, leaving behind a trail of broken relationships. Articles were shared, soapboxes were mounted and the “angry” button recently introduced by Facebook was given an intense workout. We may not know exactly how many relationships were damaged, but it’s clear that the impact was broad enough that it’s reached nearly every single one of us in some way.
