Watch This French Grocery Store Parody Amazon for Their 'New' Shopping Idea

Just a couple weeks after Amazon announced their new Amazon Go grocery store concept, the French grocery chain Monoprix has responded with a nearly identical video. In the almost shot-for-shot parody, Monoprix tells its shoppers: "You don't need an app to go shopping. So put away your phone and shop. It's really that simple." Monoprix used the opportunity to introduce their newest home-delivery service where shoppers can get their groceries within an hour after shopping in the store.

Watch Hillsong United Perform ‘Rule’ From the Foot of the Dead Sea

Hillsong United has released another video from their live album Of Dirt and Grace. Each of the songs was recorded in the Holy Land. As they explain in the description on YouTube, We found some ruins by the old dead sea factory by the dead sea. We set up in what looked to be a former restaurant probably from WW2 time—and after the sunset we recorded “Rule.” There were coyotes in the background and the eeriness and history of the place seemed fitting to record a song about hope. You can go here to see more videos from the trip.

What Really Happened in North Carolina with LGBT Activists and the HB2 Vote | The Stream

Charlotte repealed an ordinance that the General Assembly already voided months ago. I support HB2 and do not favor its repeal. No economic, political or ideological pressure can convince me that what is wrong is right. It will always be wrong for men to have access to women’s showers and bathrooms. If HB2 is repealed, there will be nothing on the books to prevent another city or county to take us down this path again. The left has already publicly stated the removal of HB2 is necessary for the rest of their agenda to move forward. With certainty, if HB2 is repealed, we will fight this battle all over again with another city or county. The names will change, but the national groups who are pushing this agenda will not stop until their social engineering is accomplished. The only thing stopping them are those of us who continue to stand strong.

Celebrating Christmas at Christmastime - The Imaginative Conservative

Says Chesterton: “Modern men have a vague feeling that when they have come to the feast, they have come to the finish. By modern commercial customs, the preparations for it have been so very long and the practice of it seems so very short. This is, of course, in sharp contrast to the older traditional customs, in the days when it was a sacred festival for a simpler people. Then the preparation took the form of the more austere season of Advent and the fast of Christmas Eve. But when men passed on to the feast of Christmas it went on for a long time after the feast of Christmas Day. It always went on for a continuous holiday of rejoicing for at least twelve days.” It ended, he points out, in a wild culmination that was famously commemorated by a writer most of us have heard of: William Shakespeare. He wrote a play called Twelfth Night. And while most of us have heard of the play, most have forgotten the meaning of Twelfth Night. It is the twelfth day of Christmas. The last of a dozen days of great celebration, that begins with the birth of Christ and ends with the visit of the Wise Men.

Infertility in the Arms of the Church

The last thing an infertile couple wants is to be treated differently just because they don’t have a growing family. Because they tend to have more flexible schedules, unmarried people or other couples without children can be a great blessing to those struggling with infertility. But families with children also should seek to draw these couples into our family life and not exclude them because we are afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing. Just because they can’t have children doesn’t mean they don’t want to be around children.

You look at the outside world and where some of us have come from and where our family and friends are or what we're able to do with the sport that we love, with helping people, being in a position to hold platforms that help others or enlighten others, or just make someone's day. There is some weight to it. And it's a blessing. And you ask yourself, why? There are a million guys on the street right now that can do the same thing I can do, but I'm here right now because I'm supernatural in my thinking and supernatural in the way I feel. And when you're passionate about something and you can feel it in your heart and your soul, that energy radiates outwards ... and that's the power of God right there. That's something that is to be looked at.

God Came Down

Why does Christmas have this magnetism, even in a society that has tried to empty it of its origin in Christ? The real magic of Christmas is not gifts and goodies, new toys and familiar traditions, indoor warmth and outdoor snow. What lies at the very heart of Christmas, and whispers even to souls seeking to “suppress the truth” (Romans 1:18), is the most stunning and significant fact in the history of the world: that God himself became one of us. The God who created our world, and us humans at the apex of his creation, came into our world as human not just for show, but for our salvation.

What Grieving People Wish You Knew at Christmas

But for those who’ve recently lost someone they love, the holidays can seem more like something to survive than to enjoy. The traditions and events that can add so much joy and meaning to the season are punctuated with painful reminders of the person we love who is not here to share in it. Many have wished they could find a quiet place to hide until January 2.

This Christmas, Remember the Refugees

Refugees like these and many others often find themselves struggling to understand the language, put their kids in school, find a job, and set up medical appointments, all the while grieving the conflict that devastates their faraway homelands. The Kassabs, for example, take two of their children to the hospital every month for blood transfusions and live with the daily fear that their kids won’t live long. (This health crisis is in part what drove them to seek refuge in Jordan and eventually in the United States.) They find community support from their fellow refugees and also get help from local church volunteers who take them to the hospital, teach them English, and offer other assistance. However, not all refugee families have access to this kind of help. Our World Relief Chicago office recently reported that only half of refugee arrivals in the area are assisted by a local church, and no doubt the same holds true for other regions. Although some of these refugees receive support from other organizations and individuals, nonetheless the gap remains, which means that churches have an amazing opportunity to sponsor refugees and share the love of Christ with them.

The Real Meaning of Christmas

One of the most remarkable stories of Christmas comes from one of the darkest moments of modern history. World War I ravaged a continent, leaving destruction and debris in its wake. The human cost, well in the millions, staggers us. But from the midst of this dark conflict comes the story of the Christmas Truce of 1914. The Western Front, only a few months into the war, was a deplorable scene of devastation. Perhaps as if to give the combatants one day to breathe again, a truce was called from Christmas Eve through Christmas Day.

The Gift of Christmas Was Predicted With the Gift of Prophecy

‘I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number. I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing,’ declares the LORD. ‘The days are coming,’ declares the LORD, ‘when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.”

Hark! The Herald Angels Said?

The idea of angels singing on the night of Christ’s birth has become so common that many are surprised to learn that the Bible does not unequivocally state this. This example provides a good opportunity to discuss traditions. In and of themselves, traditions are not wrong, but they must be based on and consistent with Scripture. If they contradict Scripture, then they must be rejected.

Is Jesus God in the flesh?

Answer: Since Jesus’ conception by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary ( Luke 1:26-38 ), the real identity of Jesus Christ has always been questioned by skeptics. It began with Mary's fiancé, Joseph, who was afraid to marry her when she revealed that she was pregnant ( Matthew 1:18-24 ). He took her as his wife only after the angel confirmed to him that the child she carried was the Son of God.

You Can Share Your Faith With Your Family Without Making It Weird

If your request for grace over the Christmas ham sends someone into a diatribe against Christians, you should realize it’s probably not about you. Often, people have issues with their faith based on a painful previous experience or a Christian leader who failed them. Showing patience and grace in the wake of a backlash can go far in changing their perceptions. Without cracking open a Bible, you’ve showed your family the character of Jesus and provided a valuable counterweight to a negative perception they may have.

Pregnancy changes a mother's brain for years, study shows

Our teen-aged brains undergo a similar process of "synaptic pruning," explained Hoekzema. At that developmental period, weaker brain connections are eliminated, leaving a more efficient and more specialized neural network, she said. Adolescents with a more "mature" network -- meaning, less grey matter -- actually show increased brain activity in their thinned-down regions, she observed. "Reduced volume does not necessarily reflect reduced brain activity," said Hoekzema.
